I really like to see both views. But if I had to choose, although I am more used to the frontal view, I think you can really see more aspects of the form of an iris from the side view. Give me any picture of an iris and I'm happy!

I need both. The side view shows the form and the beard view shows the charm. And if I can see the color in the throat I can sometimes tell how the sun will light the bloom.
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?
Usually, I like the side view, but on some I like the beard to show, especially if it has something going on with the falls and the beard. I noticed that more of the beard side shots get thumbs then the side view though when both are provided. I do like both however.

I left space for tomatoes this year in my "vegetable" garden.. The asparagus take up one of the raised beds and are permanent, but I think the tomatoes are going to be in containers next year. I've already walked several pots of historic Iris up there. I haven't pulled up the last tomato, and I think it's getting nervous (and yes, there are still tomatoes on it).

Sherry, I had 28 tomato plants this year. I canned tomatoes until I was blue in the face. I froze some too, and gave many away, and still had many go to waste. So if I plant only 5 or 6 plants next year, I'll have lots of space to plant into irises!

But, I have a bunch of dahlia bulbs coming in the spring and I have planned on putting a row of them in the garden too. I better sell some more horses!

Yay! Sherry. Glad to hear the asparagus won't be sacrificed. Love love love asparagus. Grew up in an area of Michigan that grows huge fields of the stuff. My Dad used to bring home big paper shopping bags filled with asparagus. My mom probably felt like Tom w/his tomatoes getting it blanched and ready to freeze though!
