Do Tell fully open - sorry I thought this was a really good picture! Diann, sorry yours didn't turn out so well - I wonder why? I will post my 2nd year Do Tell blooms when they open; hopefully they'll be as vibrant as this one. I am actually really pleased as I was expecting a much "paler" peony.

It's a beautiful peony Steve! I'm not sorry yours is better. Smiling I need to move mine to a better location with less tree root competition and mine will be just fine. Smiling Great pictures, Steve, now I'm really having Peony-envy!! Smiling Please keep the pictures coming!

I am not 100% positive but I think you have the Burma Joy and Cherry Charm reversed. Do a comparison to other pictures but Burma Joy is normally a darker red.

I personally did not understand why Do Tell was the peony of the year a couple of years ago. It is so variable in shape and color no matter where it grows.

Alana, I am pretty sure I have them straight. They're labeled with the original tags and I have multiple Cherry Charms and all appear the same; maybe it's the lighting but the two are easy to distinguish as Cherry Charm is a much larger/taller plant than my "Burma" which is rather short and one of two plants that both look the same. Either way they're both pretty and I agree with Oldgardenrose's comment on DG that Do Tell and Cherry Charm look great together, at least this year!

Yeah, not sure on the "Do Tell" - I was not expecting much based on Ticker's experiences with hers but if the first-year bloom on the above pictured plant holds true I will say I am very pleased with it. I have some second-year Do Tells that have budded up and will be flowering shortly and so we'll see if there's consistency between those and this one and I guess I'll find out if I still like it Whistling

Steve, your peonies are so beautiful. Please keep the pictures coming!

Are any of the peonies that you posted fragrant? I love fragrant peonies.

First pic of a very early, at least for my area, bud opening. Either a Fleming or Crousse since they were my first atempts and were moved several times. Could have full bloom before May 1 if the weather cooperates.

Steve, so glad you're here posting pictures. You're so far ahead of me and it gives me something to look forward to.

Maxine, lovely peonies!

OGRose, looks like that will be a beauty.

Thanks Val! And howdy Goldfinch, log time no see! I wondered where you'd gone! I loved the garden photos you posted - was it last year or the year prior?

Val, yes, many of them are fragrant. I didn't notice much fragrance even on the Festiva Maximas (which are supposed to be very fragrant) last year so we'll see this year - but White Cap, Madame de Verneville, Red Charm, and others are quite fragrant. I would say MdV is the strongest I have so far though White Cap is a close second, believe it or not. Others, like Kansas, have no fragrance I can detect.

OGR, congrats on your early blooms. Must be your shallow planting style that makes you so far ahead of most in your vicinity!

I have TONS of stuff blooming. Hard to keep up with posting on DG and here - though seems eveyone is migrating to cubits.

Hollingsworth's "Top Hat" - looks like White Cap's cousin as DonnaMack said - i love this one. First year plant and I got - no kidding - five flowers on one and eight on the other.

Hollingsworth's Color Magnet - I LOVE this one - little fade and strong staying power. First year and like most of the H. peonies bloom counts are high for a new plant.
