So I had a very nice time googleing Talavera pottery and found all kinds of very nice things. Including the Siesta Man figuring that got broken after we got home. Of course I didn't pay the prices that they are looking for. Found that flamingo I like, just might order that one.

Jo Ann, I don't think I could get through that place in a day. That looks like pottery heaven.

I went to a place outside of Las Cruces, NM when I was visiting my daughter. it was acres of pottery and yard art. We kept going back, just couldn't see it all in one day. http://www.qfmnm.com/QFMNM.htm...
They don't even begin to show on their website what they have. I'll see if I can find some of the photos I took.

Holly is this the one? This is the one the tree cutters broke on my patio. Maybe this piece is doomed to be broken. Shrug!

I cannot bring myself to throw it away. The tree limb hit the hat. I keep thinking I can put it back together. It was a birthday present from my daughter. I have a big frog and a 26" pot. and two other animals talavera pottery.

At my old house I had the front porch set up with my first 3 my daughter gave me and my passion began. I love the colors.

Cinta, Yes that is the Siesta Man that we bought in Mexico, I think it was around $35 but could have been more. Mine was just blue and white, they had more colorful ones like yours but the blue and white one just called to me. I use a lot of cobalt blue in my gardens I would keep it broke or not ours was completely smashed. We kept the pieces thinking maybe they could be put into a stepping stone. Here is a pic of the sombrero it survived with only a few chips on the brim. But the whole piece was these colors. Some were blocked out in color and other areas were flowered.

I am still in search of retail therapy. I was in Kmart yesterday and they had Armaryllis for 3.00. They had the pot and those useless dirt disk. If anyone ever see these do not use those disk. Get some soil and plant your bulb in real soil if you want to keep the bulb and see it bloom again.

Any who......This is what I picked up. I got two of them and going to send one to my sister she is still pretty depressed because she lost her husband and she does like plants but does not go out much and find the sales like I find them.

Lynn it mostly broke the top. It is not a lot of pieces. The bottom is not broken. I have a pic. Let me look.

Okay here it is. The pot was broken off the back, that is what I put inside and as you can see he broke the top hat off.

Holly that is pretty. I do the colorful ones because I usually use it on the patio or in areas that the furniture is all white and the more colorful ones seem to bring out all the white it is around.

I brought smaller terracotta pots when I was in Mexico. These my daughter ordered from an artist and she paid over 300 for the big ones. She gave the company the bill and they paid for breaking the pot but I still want the one she first brought me. It just seem wrong to say replace.

Cinta, that looks repairable. They have some really great stuff out there now for repairing ceramics. I hope you are able to repair it.
Now I have to make a trip to Walmart, to see if they have any Amaryllis bulbs left. Whistling

Holly, I love the colors in your cobalt blue one. Do you think you will be able to repair it?

No mine is completely beyond repair, pretty much completely shattered other than the hat. Poor Ric was so upset when he dropped it. I like the colorful ones, too. I have an area that has a lot of blue and white garden art in it and we bought it for that area. Well we hope to get back to Mexico later this year so we will see what we can find.

I did it. Went to Walmart and got a beautiful red and white Amaryllis bulb. Also a Peruvian Daffodil.
Thumb of 2015-01-21/valleylynn/c5230d

Heads up, if you have a Rite Aid in your area you need to go check them out. They have a bunch of new containers. Even a smaller elephant in a kind of sitting position. And many more amazing containers.

I will pot them up tomorrow. Cinta, do I water them in after planting, or wait until I see the beginning of growth?

David that is a great idea for a new thread. Here you go. I will get a photo of my broken container tomorrow and post it in the first post.

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Good job Lynn. First dunk the bulbs in some warm water for about an hour. Then plant them. Just make the soil barely moist not wet.

Armaryllis should be planted with 2" of the top of the bulb above the soil. So do not plant the bulb deep. You want to see a good bit of the top of the bulb.
