My container succulents are loving this warmer weather at daytime and colder at night. (More of the same but I love the colors.)

Cinta said:lovesblooms, do not count it out as dead yet. There are many hardy succulents that resemble the tender succulents. The many hardy succulents go dormant in the winter but come back in the summer. So watch them this summer and see if it comes back. It could be a imposter of Audrey's tender succulent.

Audrey I would not suggest you put your plant outside for the winter it probably would not hold up with any temps below 60 for any long period of time.

Jean they are happier in cold weather if they are hardy but a tender will not be happy if you let old man winter have his way with a tender succulent. I know from experience. Hilarious!

I play musical plants all winter. They come in when it is close to freezing and go back out when temps are forecasted to be above 38. Cinta, what kind of imposter would it be? I would love to have the same look without bringing it indoors for the winter.

Good luck with yours, lovesblooms. If they do not come back this spring let me know and I will send you some cuttings.

We grow a good many sedums and succulents outdoors and I love the way the changing seasons bring out different colors in them. Many exhibit vibrant color in the fall while others put on a show in early spring with their inflorescence. One we allow to grow as a ground cover in the early spring, only removing mass quantities of it to plant tender annuals. Holly also has containers of succulents all around as well as a living wreath filled with them.

I believe the sedum we allow to grow as a ground cover may be Sedum japonicum 'Tokyo Sun'.

@GigiPlumeria, I failed to mention how beautiful your containers are--actually cheerful, which isn't a word I usually associate with succulents. Can you tell me what types they are? I think the pictures would make wonderful additions to the database--multi-plant pics?

Thank you all, @lovesblooms most of these are tender succulents and I think I know the names of each one. I can't remember how to tag names in the multi plants database 😳 though.

The big shell like reddish colors are flapjacks. Then I have jades, California sunset, the starfish looking (my fave) is aloe Donnie. Hard to believe that the majority of these were clearance plants from a big box stores purchased a few years ago.

Gigi, I love them all, especially the containers. I've got to find one of those boat containers. Can you tell us what plant that is in the trout pot? Is it an aloe of some sort? I've had that one for years, along with a haworthia(sp?), but never knew the ID of it.

@Deebie, that is Haworthia 'black gem'. The ones that are grown outside plants has reddish brown color and short leaves.

That trout pot definitely looks like a blast from the past. We often find leftover succulents in big box stores, some times some unusual ones.

Ric, yes that trout planter is almost 50 years old, still well maintained but was only collecting dust until I planted pretty things on it.

Most of these little planters came from grandma and they are quite old.

I can't wait to see them in the multi-plant photo section. I want to know what the name is of that sweet little blooming cactus.

Those old planters were the tops. I remember my aunt had one that looked like Lassie, and another that was a dachshund. Many are now collectors items.

Lynn the one on the boat came with a tag Mammillaria Spinosissima. Now not sure how accurate that is because there are sub species under this family. Close up photo below.

Ric, I agree...and these are most special to me because my grandma kept these for years. Obviously she kept them for some sentimental value...instead of tossing them or giving them away.
