Yea! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! To tell the truth, I've just given up trying to grow these. There are so many vines that are easier to grow.

I hope it makes a massive plant. If it does it would be interesting to see if cuttings would root. Green Grin!

If it does I'd definitely try and also try to dig it up and overwinter it by digging gently around it. Such a testy plant! Literally dozens of seeds to get 1 plant tried in many different areas and ways of growing!

Well, if you ever come by seeds again pop them in a part sun area in the ground you rarely water and forget about them. That was my success! When I can't grow something it becomes a competition for me against the plant if that makes any sense! Even better if that place has grown any type of nasturtium in the past. I should have thought of this in the first place.

It seems I am not destined to have luck with this vine, either! I put a ton of Sluggo down but then I forgot to take into account the cabbage butterfly which uses nasturtium as a host plant. Someone ate the top of my vine! Thumbs down

Now that it has a root system maybe you can dig it up and let it recover in a pot, in a place removed from the slugs?

I might try that but I must remember not to overwater it!

So I dug it up but the critters really did a number on it and completely defoliated it. So I don't have high hopes. Here it is with my speciosum which isn't growing very fast and I don't know why. I am afraid to fertilize it as I don't really know what type to use. But I'm other news, I finally found a source for mashua which is T. tuberosum and they should be arriving in a day or so!

I'll be keeping those away from hungry critters!

The viable one came from a packet from Select Seeds. I tried to uproot and pot it up but it didn't make it. I sowed what was left in the pack so crossing my fingers!

Did anyone save seeds from this plant yet? I ended up harvesting them when they were still green, because they were dropping and sprouting in the ground around the original plant. Picked up quite a few today when I was cleaning up the bed. We've had a freeze here, so the plant was toast. The seeds seemed softer than the ones I picked off the actively growing plant. Anybody know if green seeds will mature off the plant?

I think I have germination action in my seeds. Time will tell if what I am observing emerging from the soil are tender slender vines or not. I sowed the entire bag of 350 seeds per vendor's instructions a few weeks ago. The vendor is Seed Needs, who is selling on Amazon.

@Gerris2, how did you come out with your seeds? I sorted out my saved seed and started some today. (Not 350, though!!!) I also had 2 packs of different nasturtium seeds from different places. Last year, I soaked the seeds overnight. Germination rate wasn't great, but I got a few plants last year. Then I noticed conflicting instructions between the 2 purchased seed packets, so I did what I should have done last year, and consulted my Propagation Handbook (by Geoff Bryant.) According to the book, you should scarify the seeds, not soak them. I did have a little cup of water at the ready to drop them into after I rubbed them on the sandpaper, but it was more to see if there were floaters. This, I know, isn't a fool proof method, but figured it couldn't hurt. Plus, it satisfied my urge to soak them lol.

Some of my saved seeds had what I'd call a husk on them. I removed it altogether. Fingers crossed now for a couple of weeks.

hawkeye-daddy no unfortunately they rotted. I bought another bag of seeds and will sow them outdoors when the weather warms up. I'll definitely be following your updates to learn of your success.
