I had 2 start to germinate (they swelled and I saw green) and then I think I overwatered and they rotted. I just ordered a second pack of 350 and when it warms up I'm going to sow them all! The 2 I had success with getting to sprout and grow both got destroyed. One by cabbage white caterpillars and the one I grew indoors in January by my felines. So frustrating! The one I got to grow in January reached nearly a foot in a matter of days once it started to grow. Then the cats broke it and it died.
If I’m not here, I’m gardening!

Well, I am at day 7, and a few have started to germinate. 2 out of 18 of my saved seed Canary Vine, 3 out of 12 of my nasturtiums from Pinetree, and o for 12 of the Burpee nasturtiums. Hoping for lots more to come this week!

I decided to go ahead and put the lights on them now. Hope that wasn't a mistake. Seed should be covered enough so that it won't matter. Just didn't have room in any of the other containers to stick five more little pots.

A few more of the Pinetree nasturtium seeds and one of the Burpee seeds came up today. I forgot to mention that I got my original Canary vine seed from Pinetree as well. I have a fresh packet from them, if the saved seeds don't make it. I did pick a lot of those seeds while they were still green, so don't have a ton of confidence in them. The plants were in tall containers mixed with tomatoes last year, and as soon as the seed pods got brown, the seeds dumped out and were almost impossible to find in the mulch under the pots!

Well, I'm calling it on round one. 27% of the saved canary creeper seeds germinated, versus 63% of the Pinetree nasturtiums. Both of which are better than the 20% of the Burpee nasturtiums. I started some of the Pinetree canary creeper seeds today for comparison. And it's snowing outside AGAIN.

So far out of 30 seeds I purchased from Amazon Seed Needs have three sprouts, looks like I had 4 but lost the top of one.
I planted them in a pot of promix about three weeks ago, nothing was done to the seed, no pre-soaking or nicking, just buried in the pot.
Here's to hoping for continued growth and maybe a flower or two Crossing Fingers!

Joseph, they were planted just under the dirt, the size of the seed...consistently moist, full sun until mid-afternoon, then shaded by a tree.

I gently dug through the upper area of the pot to see any signs of life. I saw roots coming from some fat canary climber seeds. Maybe I will see above ground growth next weekend or next week.

I never got any more to germinate, but at least I got enough to put in with my tomato plants. The leaves aren't lobed on them this year for some reason. I don't think I had any other nasturtiums planted last year that they could have crossed with...all the seeds that germinated were saved ones.
