How disappointing, those darn last minute issues are always the most difficult to deal with. Hope today is better for you.

Apparently only I knew there are two different grades of glass. Though the boxes are marked as to what the glass is, those labels did not mean anything to my installer or his helper. One of the Super e-glass boxes was opened and five of the six glass panels were removed. At least three of those panels were used in the front wall where they should have been used only on the roof. Its a good thing I thought to check the boxes yesterday before more could be used incorrectly. Looking at the glass, I cannot tell what's what. I took a black magic marker and wrote "SIDE" AND "ROOF" on those still unopened boxes so this could not happen again. My installer and I will have a chat this AM. Whistling

Here we are at week's end and a bit more progress has been made. There are now 18 roof panels in place, exactly half. There are 16 front wall panels in place with the two sliding windows, the sliding door, and the gable wall panels (8) yet to be done. I can see little if any tint in the wall glass but there is definitely a color shift with light coming through the roof glass, greenish in direct sun and bluish in the twilight.

I hope to get the fascia boards in place between the roofs and glass and that covered in vinyl so that the gutters can be installed. All the gutters on the house are 4" but we are putting in 6" gutters above the solarium because of the huge amount of water coming off the three roof-lines. It will be interesting to see how the gutters go up since we are dealing with three roof levels adjacent to the solarium. Hopefully, all the glass will be in place by the end of next week (except for the doors). Perhaps the three columns can be wrapped, the main beam wrapped, and the beaded-board ceiling with five additional beams (perpendicular to the main beam) put in place. I just hope to see wood there, not the stain or paint yet. That may have to be delayed for electrical to proceed and if so maybe, just maybe the tile floor can be started by the end of the week. More likely, the flooring will be done week-after-next. I would rather the tile be in so that the large potting/packaging cabinet can be moved out of the garage. I have to be thinking about building my temporary greenhouse in the garage for my plumeria to over-winter, but that cabinet has to be moved out for the greenhouse to go up.

"Beautiful" is not a term I would yet consider, but thank you, Ursula.

I have someone contact me and ask why I am not posting this to the "Greenhouse" forum. Actually, I simply forgot about that forum. I hope I won't get into hot water by posting on that forum as well. We know this is not going to be a greenhouse (if you don't believe it, just ask my Kathy), but that forum is well-suited for my posts.

Like you, I watch the long-range forecast, but also wouldn't bet on the forecast to be right. I sure hope you are right. It looks like that solarium will need all those three weeks to be anywhere close to ready. The main thing for me is to be able to get all the "stuff" from the porch that had to be moved out, and that is stored in my garage/greenhouses, back into the room. I need those greenhouses empty to do my fall cleaning/disinfecting and need to build my plumeria greenhouse in the garage.

Almost another week has passed and a bit more progress is evident. All the roof is done, other than final sealing. One sliding window is in. The other window frame was damaged and we are waiting for a replacement part to come in. The gable is framed but without glass. The sliding door will go in tomorrow and part of the gable glass will be mounted as well. I don't know what else is planned tomorrow.

I sure hope you are right, Carol. I had my physical yesterday (not the way to spend one's BD) and my Internist says I should live to see my 73rd. That's good news. I was afraid I might not live long enough to see this room finished. Sighing!

You must still have some "real" doctors back there. Mine just refers me to specialists, and it is months later before I hear anything.
