The Linear Drain made to be used indoors, comes in different widths and lengths that can be cut down to the width and length of what you need in a home shower. It is similar to the outdoor drains only in a smaller model as showers do not need the drainage that outdoor drains do. My drain cover and insert had to be cut down to a custom size about 37". It, too is a removable grate so that I can clean the standard round drain beneath it.

Got it. If nothing else, these trench/channel drains are very efficient. If I wish, I can paint these grates to match the porcelain tile and then the drain would hardly be noticeable.

I hadn't seen a single worker since last Thursday, and was really pi**ed at the loss of two (clear) days. Two carpenters showed up early this AM and have been hard at it. They have cut into the roof on the right and on the left and removed the guttering in both areas. My house has two ugly scars! Sighing! I will take some pictures later today.

We have a chance of thunderstorms for the next three days. With an open roof on both sides, things could get dicey. Whistling I guess I need to go out and ask: "What if it rains?"

This is what was accomplished yesterday. The eaves were cut back on both sides as well as the gutters. Support 2x4's were placed on the long, left side. Some of the roof will be cut back the same depth as the eaves when the Florian aluminum support structure is ready to begin. How much roof is removed depends on the slope of the glass roof. The roof was left intact so that rain won't get into the house. Some more concrete was ground off to further level the entrances at the French doors in preparation of tile being laid.

The concrete finishers are supposed to come today with industrial concrete grinders to get a better taper leading to the drain. They were supposed to have done that yesterday, so I'll see if they show.

@Ken We just got done with a total remodel of our bathrooms and replacing carpet with 786 sq ft. of wood tile. The whole process took 3 months. It was disheartening to sit for a week among the ruins and no one would come. But from what I understand, this is the way of it. I am sure your project will get done and like me, all the hassle will be forgotten. Almost. I still am mad at the Plumber!! hahaha Grumbling Things are moving along. Just look how far you have come!

I try my best to be patient, Cheryl. I seem to be more patient with my plants. Whistling I hope the glass begins to go up today. The guy was supposed to have started yesterday afternoon. He could not be found by my contractor. The building trades are not what they used to be. I have built two homes and two dental offices, and boy, the difference is like daylight and dark. Sighing!

"The building trades are not what they used to be."

No kidding -- through various remodeling projects we have had some workers that were awesome, but others that left a lot to be desired! (and these were people that we actually know personally...) We did a big tear-down-to-the-studs remodel of our bedroom and bathroom, and one of the last things to be done was a pair of bifold doors on our clothes closet... the guys that were working were going nuts because they were having so much trouble getting the thing in right; of course, I found the installation directions out in the garden some time later.... Glare

Since then, though, we've had a couple of different guys doing work for us that have been super fantastic, I really couldn't say enough good things about them. Thumbs up Thumbs up (Example: remodel of our "guest bathroom." We picked out and bought a really cool vanity that had a drawer in the bottom for storage. Ummm... didn't actually work with the way our plumbing was situated, but those guys didn't even complain about it, they just said don't worry, we'll make it work. THOSE are the guys we all want working for us!)

I hope your sunroom ends up just the way you envisioned it, Ken -- that's the really important thing!! Smiling

I little more progress, enough so that we can now see the outline of the room plus glass-work. You can see three openings in the two-foot spaced framing. The center will be double-doors and the one on each side of the doors will be windows.

This is approximately what we hope to see when finished. I hope there will be some nice tropical plants as well as living space.

Thanks, Jim. It is still awfully slow-going. Because everything has to be shimmed, at the beam as well as at the sill, so that the front wall is perpendicular and the top of the gables are level, each and every one of those gables has to be removed and then re-set. One step forward and one step back. It looks like at the end of this afternoon. everything will look exactly as it did yesterday afternoon. Sighing!

A damaged vertical "stud" was found damaged, and though it is in place with the attached side-bars, it will have to be replaced. There is a gash and bent edge. This wouldn't affect the structural integrity of the sunroom but it would be an esthetic problem.

The aluminum framing, other than the gable-end, is complete. The rubber gaskets are being placed and glass begins to go on tomorrow. We can now see the door-way and windows. The carpenters are due back on Monday and they'll begin casing in the main beam and the central and end columns. All the copper tubing, electrical cables, and thermostat wiring is in place but the AC/Heat unit won't be in place until the room is closed in with glass and the majority of the woodwork done. There is still an awful lot of work to be done but I feel better about seeing it completed during my lifetime. Whistling
