Gotta agree with Bonnie about the drool Rob. Yikies!

Love the bronze, but have no idea.

I got #6 from my mom, who got it from a neighbor in the early 50's. I think it is my all time favorite iris! I *think* it is a Sass iris...Pink Satin...and hopefully my "test plant" will bloom this season, and I'll know for sure!

Bonnie I love the Bronze iris (I prefer Bronze Beauty)...but the only picture I could find of Union Pacific looks very different...so you may need to keep looking for an ID.

Arlyn, is #6 the one marked Mrs. B?

Ran across photographs of Skywalker. Do you think my 6th-down NOID could be it?

Thx Moiris. Definetly NOT Union Pacific. Maybe Buenos Aires...description says yellow standards and reddish fall..this is definetly bronze. I know that different soils and areas can change color some. Maybe...

Debra,

Your blue is not Skywalker. Yours has a lot of haft marks where Skywalker has none. The form of yours is older than skywalker as skywalker has more ruffles and yours seems to have no ruffles. My guess is the late 1950's to the late 1960's.

Greg

PS. I can send you Skywalker if you would like?

Debra, Skywalker looks very close....but if you look at the beard yours had a blue tip and the haft markings on yours (a reddish/brown color) are not present on Skywalker...so in my opinion, I'm sorry to say, I don't think it is a match. Sad

This is a good exercise for the eyes, scrutinizing tiny details for subtle differences. Maybe this will keep us from going senile, ....or drive us crazy... Rolling on the floor laughing

Since nature, cameras, monitors and printers all give somewhat different renditions of the same color the subtle differences are sometimes all we can depend on.

I don't think I mentioned Nancy @bloomers, I love the bronze Noid you posted. I especially like the photo with the fence in the background, it really shows off the color! If you ever have too many of them, even without a name, that is one I would love to have...so maybe we could do a trade sometime! Big Grin

If you like that color too maybe I could send you a piece of Apricot Ambrosia (it won't be this year...still needs time to grow. It's very similar to your Noid...but after studying it I don't think it's the same, yours has a lot more lace!

Oh yeah...I know I'm killing you with all these copper/bronze irises Mary Ann @muddymitts, we just both happen to love that color! Big Grin (And yes, when I have enough you can have an Apricot Ambrosia too if you want it...just tree mail me!)

Phew.. busy post... Let me see if I can keep everything straight..

Neil, you might also look at Mulled Wine.. although I think Lady Friend is closer..

Rob.. I also think the red historic is Indian Chief.. I'd be happy to send you some for comparison Big Grin
Look at Skating Party for your white.
Thumb of 2015-01-20/Henhouse/0f4c7a

Debra, I think we've compared our historic yellows before, but I can't remember if yours reblooms, as mine does. They sure look similar.

Arlyn, I've got your Orchid Noid in the ground and am looking forward to seeing it bloom...

I got all excited when I saw pictures of Chuckwagon, then saw that it was introduced in '03.. Mine was on the property, and very well established when I moved here in '97.

I don't think I'll ever get those blues of mine identified Sighing! There are just so many.. but I'll keep ordering older blues until I find the right one nodding
