...and thank you to everyone who took the time to share their memories of the JFK assassination. When it happened, I was not born yet, but I know that it was a shock to most people around the world, especially in Europe, where we still remember his cool headedness in handling the Cuban missile crisis, a pivotal moment in the Cold War, which could otherwise have ended in absolute disaster.

On a happier note, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and congratulations to everyone on this thread on reaching post no. 10.000!! Hurray!
I do hope it indicates that we have a lot of interesting things to chat about! Hilarious!

I've been MIA for awhile -- dealing with serious health issues of my husband's, and repeated hospitalizations. He's back in right now. It's been stressful.

Leslie -- I'm so sorry that you lost your kitty. I was worrying about him as I read my way through the posts that I've been missing. He surely is in kitty heaven -- and you made his last months heaven right here on earth. Hugs for you, and hoping Scully will be ok.

I'm thrilled that we reached 10,000 posts. I sure hope -- and expect -- that we make the 20,000 milestone.

I was an adult when President Kennedy was killed. I was working in an insurance office downtown in the Loop in Chicago, on LaSalle Street. The big building went silent as the news spread throughout it. We had no televisions there, so we listened to the radio. Everyone was dismissed early because no one knew if the country would be in any kind of jeopardy as a result of the event. The walk to the train station that afternoon, and the ride home on the train was a somber experience. People were crying everywhere. The shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald was a second shock to the nation. And the funeral of JFK, with little John-John saluting the casket as it went by, was a tear-jerker, as well as the riderless horse that was led behind the caisson, with boots reversed in the stirrups. I will never forget these events for as long as I live.

I recently saw a docu-drama that supposedly solves the mystery of who, exactly, shot JFK. According to the film, he was shot accidentally by a body-guard in the car following his. At the sound of shots (Lee Harvey Oswald's), Kennedy's car and the cars following speeded up -- and it was the abrupt increase in speed that caused the body-guard to fall slightly backward (he had stood up when hearing the sound of shots fired), which raised his weapon, and he involuntarily squeezed the trigger at the same time. He was in a direct line to the President, and was at the correct angle according to the forensics. I suspect that this information was known, but kept secret at the time.

Sorry to hear about your husband's hospitalisation, Mary Ann. I hope his health improves so that you don't need repeated/frequent hospital trips.

That docudrama on JFK sounds interesting. Do you remember what it was called?

I missed the post about your DH, Mary Ann. Group hug to you both.

I've been missing a lot lately. My phone's software decided to go kaput and yesterday I had to get a new one. I still have the old phone and will take it to a repair place to see if they can get all 300+ photos off of it. I'll be sad if they can't. Lots of baby pics of my granddaughter are there.

Thank you everyone. This is a seriously difficult time. I do not know if he will be coming home at all.

Joshua -- I'm sorry, I do not remember the name of that film. If it comes on again, I will try to remember to post the information on here -- and also the name of the program, in case you can get it there.

Celia,
Have you tried connecting your mobile to your computer using a usb cable? You may be able to retrieve all of your photos that way.

Robin, we did try that but the phone freezes and won't let anything happen.
