Usually the first TB to bloom for me is a NoID

I keep forgetting that I have Nordica too, got it from you, Mary Ann, but it hasn't bloomed yet. I though for sure it would last summer, but it was in the bed that the rabbits ate down to the rhizomes, and very few bloomed in that bed last year. Maybe this year.

Another Tom forgot, but i know he has because he sent me some is White Hot:

Bubbly Mood

The only other white I have is Immortality (like everyone else).

It bloomed for the first time last year, but only one bloom:

My first iris to bloom in the spring is also a white. A NOID for now, I bought it years ago from a farm specializing in natural produce and remedies. The rhizome is supposed to have some medicinal value. ( I don't eat them - just enjoy the blooms!)

the white medicinal plant might be species 'albicans'. I don't have photos of white irises, my own 'Hi Buddy' is on a slide so you have to look at the 2015 introductions at Winterberry Iris gardens for it. I just planted MTB 'PeWee' this summer. yes, that is how it is spelled.

If you go to the iris register, you can look up the description of an iris. Here is an example - note the RHS chart references.

"S. light rose purple (RHS 75D) infused bishop’s violet (82B) from base; style arms light rose purple; F. dark bishop’s violet lighter beside beard; beards brick orange (39B); slight musky fragrance."

I don't grow historics so don't have this one, but I do enjoy it whenever I see it. It's neat how the buds on some historics almost inflate like a balloon right before they open



It's probably a glaciata although it wasn't recognized as such at the time (the term didn't exist back then).

with what Bonnie said about white's in the garden they really do raise the beauty of everything around them a clump of white in the garden is beautiful. I have gown this one from Paul Black since first introduced and it is Outstanding ( Stolen Sweets)
