Wow you guys got it happening!

I've one clump of Iris reticulata and 1 crocus so far...(but there's a lot of green popping up).

We were out of town visiting our DS in college, and came home 24 hours later to tulip Big Chief in full bloom. I've never seen tulip leaves this big
before.

T. Big Chief had similar colors to my Camellia I planted years ago. This wasn't planned. The clematis is armandii Snowdrift, and has the most delicious scent.

Neil, regarding the Clivia blooming short, I don't think it is about chill time as mine (in pots outside) get very little chill, but I did have a couple with the short blooms during the winter that are blooming normally now. I was thinking maybe sudden changes in temps. or lack of sun . Mine are on the north side of my house. They still don't get sun, but it is brighter and warmer. Our weather is erratic ...70s this week after 90s last week, and back up by mid week. I think those sudden warm ups push the plants to bloom before they're ready. I know mine are confused!

Jack, I love that iris! I am envious of your soil. Has everyone noticed that rich black soil Jack has? It makes me drool! Where are all your basement daffs Jack?

Beautiful Annette! Really lovely. Do you later plant annuals over all those bulbs?

Ann, the soil here in central Illinois is said to be some of the, if not, the best in the world; it's why Illinois is such an agriculturally inclined state, especially corn and soybeans. The wonderful soil is here complements of the glaciers.

I've been under the weather and need to get to all my forcers in the basement, should have some pics soon.

Thanks Ann. I have perennials planted with the bulbs. Daylilies are also planted at the edge of the new back bed, along with peonies, lilies, Echinacea and roses that are planted within the bed. More lilies and dahlias are going to be added, so that I have an extended bloom time during the summer months.

The back edge of that bed is planted with tulip Akebono, and N. Winston Churchill, that are still in the process of emerging.

Tulip Kingsblood is starting to bloom. I'm sure I'll have more open this week, thanks to all the rain we've been getting today.

And here we thought you had an ultra green thumb Jack. Come to find out it's that super soil you have in Illinois. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

On a serious note I hope you are on the mend rapidly. I look forward to seeing the forcers but not at the expense of your health so just chill your own self if that's what it takes & forget about forcers.

Annette, gorgeous show! Love your combos and color use!

Carol, my Clivia is grown as a house plant, a member had thought lack of cool had caused the short stem one year. It winters in an unheated room these days and blooms well.

Jack, sorry to hear you've been under the weather. Hope good health accompanies spring.

New for me this year

Chionodoxa sardensis
I am much more fond of the blues myself, the pink giants are done already for me (we got suddenly warm and everything is going too fast now--I can't keep up!--I'm still working on spring clean-up and spring is not waiting for me)

I never met a crocus I didn't like--Neal, I love your happy crocus farm!--and I cannot pick a favorite.
I don't have twilight crocus but I do have a few artsy pics of crocuses at sunset (and a violet)

Enlarge the pic and take a good look. Is this Chionodoxa sardensis or Chionodoxa forbesii? I have both planted and just planted the sardensis last Fall. (still trying to remember where in the garden)

Marilyn, kinda tough to tell for sure, but I'm leaning toward sardensis, because I don't see the white star in the center.

Dirt, awesome shots!

Jack, LOVE Plato! What a face!

Annette, I just had to go back and look at your last couple of batches of photos again, you've done such beautiful job designing! The color echo of the Tulips with the Camelia is stunning, and those Jasmine (?- I think) together creates the most welcoming entrance. The centers of the Daffs bring a lighter shade of that coral-red, love that! And your City of Haarlem Hyacinths look a much deeper yellow than mine, and look great with those Muscari.
