Maurice - Only a few of mine do that deciduous thing in the Winter. The rest stay green with some of the older leaves dying. Then when the temps warm up, I see new foliage which quickly grows. I certainly haven't had cold Winters here this year. I don't think it ever even got down to freezing temps nor did it stay cold but for a day or two before the temps rose. Often though, those particular plants will completely disappear within 3 years. They literally die off. I have always assumed those were true dormant daylilies. All the daylilies around them have done fine and continue to grow and bloom every year. Since I don't know the parentage of these in particular, I have no way of knowing if they have dormant genes (parents), but I always assumed they did.

I think I am going to have to break down and get a Siloam Double Classic daylily just because of how pretty it is and how much everyone loves it. Sounds like it is a great performer in the garden!
