I was wondering if Dave timed Azalea and Rhododendron Celebration Week to coincide with the Master's. My dad was watching the golf; I was watching the plants. Hilarious!

Melanie the Carolina Wrens are no shrinking violets. They get used to people pretty quickly. They're sort of like little dogs -- they don't know they're little! Hilarious! Hilarious! And they will make nests in all kinds of places. In empty or full flower pots, in tennis shoes, in wreaths on doors. Silly birds. Lovey dubby They do have a lovely song when they aren't "scolding". Only the male sings.

I had just briefly seen this female Scott's Oriole a couple of times, but wondered where its mate could be. So early a.m. both showed up at the hummingbird feeder so I wanted to get a pic through the window. Well, those birds flew away quickly. I did manage to get this shot of the female a bit later...she looks kind of like she's hiding. I'll get a better one of them sooner or later! I wonder if I'm the only one who sometimes sees orioles using a hummingbird feeder.

Nice picture, Linda! I know that they make Oriole feeders, which have larger holes. I didn't know that they were able to drink from a hummingbird feeder. I've been looking in all the stores here for an Oriole feeder, but I've never seen one. Not sure that it is worth ordering one, since I've only seen them very briefly before they flew away, but I'd like to try and get them to hang around. Haven't seen one yet this year, but I'd probably have to be looking out the window all day long. I would think that they would want a different food in the liquid feeders too, but I haven't looked into that.

Nice spotting Linda! Good shot. She really does look like she's hiding.

Our Cardinal finally let me get a quick photo, yesterday, as he was feeding on sunflower seeds. He had been singing his heart out that morning, so he got extra seeds. Whistling

Oriole's love grape jelly and fresh oranges. I put both of these out along with Hummingbird and Oriole liquid feeders. So far I have not see either here in Iowa yet but will soon I am sure. Can't wait to post pictures of my visitors.

Didn't have my camera with me when I went to Panera to get a bagel this morning, but I wish I had. My favorite cow pasture had quite the mix going on. There was a Wood Stork, a couple of Great Egrets, one small black bird I'm not sure of, and several Snowy Egrets! I had to look them up because the black bills threw me and I couldn't remember which one that was. They were all crowded together (except the great Egrets) in one spot near the road which made me wonder what they were doing. Bird conference? I don't think they eat roadkill so I didn't think it would be that. It was just really weird to see several different species all huddled together like that.

That does sound very mysterious Melanie. Is the area wet where there could be baby toads or frogs or some type of bugs???? Shrug!

Oh yeah, that cow pasture floods all the time and we just got two days of good thunderstorms so yeah, it's wet. It's my favorite place to bird watch as I'm driving 45 mph. Rolling on the floor laughing If they're eating those invasive Cuban frogs, I'm all for it! But I couldn't see what they were eating. I did come home, get my camera, turn around and go back, but they had scattered. Thumbs down Can birds see you eyeing them from a car? I think they can and they knew.

Spring is finally here; the buntings are back. This little guy needed a bath after his flight from FL. The photos were taken through the window so they are a little fuzzy.

Sorry the bird bath looks so scuzzy, the Live Oak squigglies are falling faster than we can keep up with them. The piece of copper pipe is supposed to keep algae at bay. It doesn't work. Sad

Alice, your birdbath is nothing compared to what my car looks like. Those oak squigglies are killing me, by the way. Severe allergies, here. I'm just rotating Allegra and Zyrtec on a 12 hour basis. Glad the bird got a nice little bath. Looks like it had fun.
