Leslie, Eye to Eye is extra special! Love it!

Mary Ann, I think chimera refers to color and/or form. One of the hybridizers, Tasco I think, was just talking about that on facebook.

That is correct, chimera can be either or both! And mine are definitely caused by weather stress. Some iris though, do have a tendency toward the extra standards and falls. Both Winterberry and Blue J have examples of those on their websites.

My Jewel Baby had it's first bloom this year. I will have to keep an eye out for that tendency then.

This one bloomed in a clump that was supposed to be Good Point, that already had Yosemite Star. So half of the clump is Yosemite Star and the other half is Good Point, I think.
It does look a little dark to be good point.
Where I got them really screwed up! Now I have a mess.

That's okay Ashton. Other's blooms are more than welcome here.

Beautiful pictures. The second looks a lot like a Blyth iris....

So yours routinely blooms with 4! Part of it's genetic makeup then, instead of just a chimera?

Pretty shot - the leaves look so velvety.

Yeah, it's got a "wild gene" someplace, I guess ! There are several cultivars, of different "classes" that do similar things. I've often thought a bed dedicated to these odd-balls would be kinda' neat ! "Flatties", multiple appendages, and the like.

I love the oddballs. Can't help it, they have their moments in the world of the super pretty iris.
