Well except for the Japanese iris my bloom season is done.
Thanks to Mary Ann, and Sue, and Arlyn and Jan who shared rhizomes with me last summer - many of which bloomed.
And an absolutely huge THANK YOU to Greg and Tom, who were very generous with a newbie, and whose iris literally make up the majority of the blooms posted here.

I went to the Sarah P. Duke Gardens yesterday, and posted some of my pictures on another thread. Bur now I realize I forgot to post the pictures of the Iris Fountain! This fountain greets you at the garden center before you enter the gardens proper. It is very long so I have taken shots of each group of iris represented.
Long views:
The last pic gives the best scale of the size.
I spent most of my time in the Asian gardens because I wanted to catch the Japanese iris while they were still in bloom.
Many of the tags were mixed up, unfortunately. This was labelled as Peacock Dance, but is missing the purple veining on the falls:
This one was Abundant Display:
These are whatever they want to be!
In keeping with iris, there is also a beautiful metal bridge called the Iris Bridge: the sides of which are fans and blooms of iris.

After being so happy to see all the Japanese iris, I looked out my kitchen window and saw that my maiden bloom of Blushing Snowmaiden had opened. I couldn't even wait to finish my coffee before I grabbed the camera and headed for the back yard!
These pics are of it just opened. It still needs to relax, so I will be back at it tomorrow. And while mine is more white than the database bloom (which may change with age?) I am sure it is the Snowmaiden because I got it from her hybridizer.
Okay, a question for all of you. I have a very hardy re-bloom stalk on Las Vegas, but the stalk splits into two separate stalks about a foot above the ground AND both stalks have buds. Is this normal? If have had this happen with Lillies, but never with my iris. I will take a photo tomorrow so you can see it.
