I switched around a couple hanging plants in the pergola today. I took down the scraggly fern, put one of the dipladanias in its place, and hung my huge oak leaf ivy basket up where the dipladania was. The fern got moved to the ivy's former place, which was over by the barn on a hangar. The ivy is so huge and full, and nobody could see and appreciate it over there, but that is the only place I could put it that would hold it because it's so heavy.

I moved my orchids in there too because they were getting way too much hot afternoon sun where I had them. Now they should be in shade for almost all of the day and hopefully much happier

The sweet potato vines are growing good too, so nice and full.

The wisteria is going berserk over the top of the pergola.

The climbers on Mom's garden arch are doing pretty good too. Does anyone know what the white/orange/reddish flowers are? I threw away the tag because I didn't think I would like it. I do............almost better than the purple hyacinth beans they are interplanted with.

Yes, ladies, I agree............and I'm sure my Mom is happy and smiling that 1)...........we didn't let anyone throw out her garden arch, even tho it's seen better days.........and 2)........that I took a little of my "inheritance" from the estate and had the pergola built. She knew I wanted one, so this is my little memorial to her. And I go sit out on one of the swinging chairs, listen to the wind chimes (she played music too), and just think of her. She was a plant person too, but hers were all perennials. She always did think I had a screw loose for dealing with all those pots, hauling plants in and out. I told her it was easier weeding pots than stuff in the ground. LOLOL

Anna, I know your mom is smiling at all you've done. Your pergola is beautiful and I can't believe how fast the plants grow in your area. They look so well established already!

Di, your pergola and pool area is stunning and looks great. I don't mind the dip. Heck, I have a hutch in my dining room that is from my MIL and it looks just like that after years of heavy china and glass on it. You have such a nice, relaxing area.

Anna I love your tribute to your mom on the pergola. My mother passed away a year ago and since she could no longer garden and we both loved flowers, she would sit out in a lawn chair at her house and talk to me while I planted and worked in her landscaping. Created a whole new border garden across her front yard one year (Colorado) and she absolutely loved it and we shared the entire experience. I too used some of her "inheritance" to add plants this year to the prayer garden (something she was adamant about) and added to her memorial garden I created with a couple of her plants I brought from Colorado, and know she too would be pleased. Every time I had something new bloom I would take a picture and send it to her and she would get excited right along with me. I miss her Angel

I think the SU felt bad that the Moravian star I got in Mexico last month wouldn't fit through the house door to put it in the sunroom, so he gave it a couple coats of Clear Coat and he hung it in the pergola this afternoon. It doesn't look like much, but when it's dark out and lit from the inside, it's amazing. I know if it gets really windy, we'll probably take it down and put it back up in the shop. I would be devastated if it blew down and broke.
