I don't think toads hurt roses once they are planted..they are wonderful to have in the garden. Mine are a problem with my baby roses that are in pots. The toads like to get into the pot and they tend to kick the roses out of the pot..,I often see them when I water the pots..but the squirrels! They destroy the roses (again in the pots)I have lost many roses to them..

Can't you put wire over the top of the pots? I do to keep my chickens out?
My Daddy's Rose blooms two or three times a year. It has clusters of flowers you could cut off one branch and have a bouquet. Thank you, Zuzu.

I will have to watch if the flowers open that much. They are quite small. Are Showbiz flowers an inch wide?

No, the Showbiz blooms are bigger. If yours are only an inch wide, the rose might be a hybrid musk, although I've never seen one in such a clear red color. They're usually verging on cherry-pink.
