That's wonderful Hetty. There is no greater compliment than one coming from a child Hurray! she will be our future Plumerian.

I didn't get up early enough to get blooms to make a lei. It was probably a good thing because I didn't have a lot of blooms left on my Divine and mini-white. I would probably have a "no bloom" 4th of July If I plucked all the blooms to make a lei.

I received a Plumeria lei needle (12 inches) mailed to me from Hawaii by my friend. She was there for a week and she bought Madam Poni, Royal Hawaiian and Celadine cuttings.

Now I don't have enough blooms to make a plumeria lei.

You can include other flowers as well, Gigi. Back in January I made this lei from Bougainvillea and a FEW Plumeria flowers (because it was all I had).

Also use leaves as fillers

The wonderful musician and lei artist Kuana Torres Kahele encourages you to make leis from ANYTHING. Here is a gorgeous grass lei....

If you have a facebook page look his up. He shows the most wonderful leis plus he also posts videos with instructions.

Wow! These are beautiful leis Hetty! I don't have a FB page Thumbs down

I will gmhave to try and figure out what I can use. I do have a white orchid blooming like crazy this time of the year, only downside to it is unlike plumeria, once you pluck the orchid blooms, the flowers are gone till next blooming season.

Plumerias on the other hand, the more I pluck the blooms, the more blooms comes out of them.

This morning's lei. Made from the flowers of Schefflera actinophylla (aka 'Octopus Tree'). I had been looking at them all in bloom over the neighborhood but they are usually high up in the trees. This morning I found a big one cut down by the side of the road Big Grin

That color is beautiful with a contrast of hot pink or red blooms. Either as alternate color or a pendant....if not the yellow is fine too.

I don't have as many blooms yet but I think a second flush of bloom is coming soon...keeping my fingers crossed...I'm hoping to be able to make a lei for a friend's daughter's September birthday.

Hot pink WOULD be nice but it would mean stripping my Plastic Pink tree of its blooms.... hmmmmm Thumbs up but the Miami Rose tree across the street is not being appreciated since the owners are away..... hmmmmmm Whistling

That would be beautiful..😍just make sure your neighbor does not have a camera that will show you plucking the blooms from their yard. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

By the way, this was given to me as Miami Rose, which is different from my no ID pink that I thought was Miami Rose. It has the suntan lotion fragrance but the blooms do not open all the way. It is a prolific bloomer it has been blooming since late May but the blooms never open up like my other plummies.

It doesn't look like Miami Rose to me (but it's nice!); one of the ways to tell Miami Rose for sure is the shape and color of the inflorescence.
