I've been obsessed with this combo of white, yellow, and purple lately. I'm super excited to see this one I recently received from Tom bloom.


Also wanting this one really bad! It's one I just missed at the club sale- that rhizome was as big as my fist! Those orange beards are awesome!

That is a little BRIGHT one! Love the yellow beard. Do the dwarf spread very quickly?

Although my camera tends to make things more blue then they are, it's still pretty blue. It's one of Dee's introductions. I Could have stuck one in your box had I thought of it, but hind sight is 20/20

I love John's MTB 'Billie the Brownie'. there is no other one like it.

Both great medians, Lucy! Sun Sprite looks so cheery. I'll bet it lights up a spring garden. I have not seen Billie the Brownie offered anywhere. Who carries it?

B the B does fade as it ages, loses the slight blue tints under the beards. I don't think that anyone carries it since Hermit Meddlar's Walk closed. they introduced for us until they had to retire. Too bad, as it won the Williamson-White Award the top one for MTBs in 1999. A couple people grow it for hybridizing & of course we do. I must make sure that our girls have it.

Speaking of addictions, I am definately a PBFA! (purple based foliage addict!) Just got some really special dark pbf rhizomes from Tom Silvers, who is breeding for this trait. I hope to breed for hardy pbf some day.

I have too many other plants to see the PBF. I have to push stuff aside to check.

Other than the color, does pbf have other desirable qualities? I have some with it.

The iris with the most PBF I know of is Dialect. It even has purple seed pods. Here's a picture of a bloom stalk, even some purple there.
