The Red Douglas bloomed for the first time for me this year. Love it!

'Masada' was a bonus one year from Bluebird Haven.

'Dynamite' is probably my favorite red so far...

Red is not my favorite color, but I seem to keep getting them as bonuses, so I'm learning!

Wow. What a bummer. I saw Indian Chief and fell in love, and now I realize that I have so many "Reds" that my garden will be filled with them - Rosy Wings, Indian Chief, Ida Red, Solid Mahogany, Dauntless. Yikes! I'm mapping out my garden so that they are not within close proximity to one another. And now a kind friend here has sent me "Samurai Warrior", so I have yet another Red coming!
I'm overcome with Reds ! Hurray!

Rio Rojo was outstanding in my garden this year, Patrick.
I'm looking forward to seeing Red Velvet Cake bloom next season. It has Dynamite in its parentage. Also Spartan, Red Zinger,
and Rarer than Rubies. I bought a lot of reds this year.

Oh yes, I do like the look of Rio Rojo indeed, and Red Zinger as well. Rarer than Rubies appears to be a Bitone and more purple than Red to me. But I do like the look of Rio Rojo a lot ! Thanks for the recommendations. Hurray!

I thought I had 'enough reds', but after looking at these pics I am ready for more. They are all so lovely, although the historic shape does not jingle my bells as much as the more modern form. 'Enough reds' include bi-colors like P. T. Barnum and Taco Supreme, selfs like Forge Fire and Merlot, a plicata like Color Tart and a couple of as yet unseen Noids

We had Red Hot Mama (Winterberry) bloom this year. It is a darker red in our soil.

Wow. Red Hot Mama is a relatively new one, and it is quite expensive from what I could see.
It is quite nice !

I am particularly enthralled with aril breds as I think the
bumblebee
spot on them is fantastic= particularly Persian Sapphire - a light canary yellow MDb
Also check out Betty Wilkerson's Mahagony Muse - a really different color!

Yes, I find arilbreds fascinating ..... but unfortunately, they would not grow well here in New Jersey!

Welcome Iclehman1! I only have a few of the A B's and they do ok here if I grow them I. Pots. That way if we get to much rain for them I can pull the pots back under the porch and they do noIt get soaked. They drain well in pots too.

We grow the OGB- or quarterbreds. Regelia AB will do better, but we didn't learn about them until years after we started growing the others. Anita Moran in MD grows arils very well.

I like simplicity and elegance. I am apalled by dull colors and (too many) color combinations, (bred) ruffles and doubles (if that exists in iris).

I wasn't online much yesterday -- so I managed to miss the significance of this.

Patrick -- your original post, that no one responded to, became the first of over 130 posts on this thread last week! And was the top activity thread on the entire ATP website! Congratulations, m'man!!! You've arrived! Big Grin Thumbs up Hilarious!
