Rob, that's because your yard is sooooo Beautiful and "inviting". I wonder if it's because it's so dry in the hills ?

I am sure access to a water source is a big draw for animals in the prolonged drought. Hope the predators don't follow them.....

I have been hearing the coyotes at night very close for the last couple of weeks. I have also noticed fewer rabbits around, and the raccoons haven't been coming into the barn at night tearing open the feed sacks. Not sure if they are just avoiding the area because of the coyotes or if they have reduced the populations some. Hoping for the later.

Same with us, Teresa! Don't have outdoor dogs, but do have a plethora of barn cats who probably at least discourage winged visitors...........

Arlyn, Cucumber beetles look like a green, slightly elongated Lady Bug, and are about the same size. They suddenly got really bad a couple weeks ago. It could be that there's less in bloom right now so their numbers are concentrated on the ones that are there.

Rob, you could go into business advertising "organic free-range Turkeys" for Thanksgiving.

I found a second bloom stalk coming on Jennifer Rebecca yesterday. Smiling
Harvest of Memories which only had one bloom stalk this spring, and has lots of nice rhizomes is just sitting there. That one is one of the usual ones to re-bloom. Shrug!

OK, Sherry ! *Blush* I'm "hooked up" now, I was confusing my bugs !! I was thinking of potato beeetles *Blush* Sticking tongue out ! I have seen the Cucumber beetles here, as well....but not on the iris blooms. It's the Japanese beetles that eat mine, until they leave, and then some other ,green, beetle thing....no idea what they are.....but they sure can ruin a flower;
Thumb of 2015-09-27/crowrita1/e3dc51
this bloom was 24 hours old !

I haven't seen any stalks on 'Jenny" yet, either ,Tom....although ....finally...Clarence and Feedback are 'stalking'. I certainly can't ...or at least SHOULDN'T complain about my re bloom season....it started way earlier than 'normal"...and , so far, has been really "flowery".

Omigosh those are ugly destructive things, Arlyn. Can you spray sevin spray and kill them?

I grow the following IB's but they are not planted in a bed that may get extra moisture to get them to rebloom. They are listed as re's in the database. If you grow any of these let me know if they rebloom for you and if so let me know if they are a consistent rebloomers.

Abby Chant
Bahama Blues
Concertina
Gnu Rayz - rebloomed once during a really wet fall
Intermediary
Viper - new to me, thank you Leslie

I began moving my known rebloomers to the same location this summer where it would allow me to make sure they got a little more water and perhaps a feeding after the spring bloom. Since I have limited space I would like to know how they perform in the fall. Any information about your experience with them would be helpful. If they are difficult to get a rebloom I will leave them where they are planted and invest in a new iris that will be more apt to rebloom in my zone 7a.

Yeah, sevin will kill them, and when they are "massed " like this...I get a bunch with just one "squirt"...I'd like to find 'something" that would keep them off the blooms.....spraying with an insecticide sort of "ruins" the blossoms, in and of itself....and it's detrimental to any bees that might visit.

I'll "look those up" for you, later .Bonnie, to see if they are listed by "re bloom" state......the only one I grow is Concertina...and it was planted just last year.

Yuck Arlyn! Those are horrid little creatures!!

Bonnie, 'Concertina' reblooms for me. I checked my pictures to see when, but I think the rebloom must not have been attractive enough for me to snap a picture. It hasn't yet, this year, so I'm thinking it's one of the later re-bloomers. Oct. or Nov.

Bonnie - Regarding Viper, I split mine (obviously) so I won't know if it reblooms until next year.

But I do have a bloom from Las Vegas! It was playing coy all weekend, but now the blooms are opening!
