The "flat form" iris, as well as the "broken color " ones draw a toy of attention from display garden visitors.........some say, "WOW, that's BEAUTIFUL !", and some say, "what's the matter with THAT one ?" They both seem to be either "love it, or hate it" types....with no in between

Since I don't like the flat form, I don't have Japanese irises.

I am a generalist - if it is an iris I like it. That one species has so many forms is a wonderful thing!! All the colors and forms of a rainbow. (wink)

I wrote to Aitken's about the availability of Clydesdale next year and the reply was they will have it, but it sells out quickly. We already knew that second part, though.

I do love Great Lakes. It is an historic I hope to won since I grew up on a Great Lake!!!

I did also, Leslie--4 blocks from the western side of Lake Michigan. Eldest daughter lives 2 blocks from Lake Erie.

I grew up about two blocks from the east side (or one large sand dune) of Lake Michigan in Grand Haven, MI. West side - either Illinois or Wisconsin. Are you a Cheesehead or Illini? Which side are you Mary Ann?

I'm from South Bend, IN. Close to the lake counts, right? Been in Texas a long time, but still consider myself to be from the North.

Names often trigger a song in my head--whether I like the song or not. There is one that I might have to start calling something else, just to myself, because I dislike the resultant song trigger so much. And now it is running through my head because I was thinking about it while typing...dain bramage. I'm going to blame it on the MS plaques' dain bramage. My story, sticking to it.

I can never have this iris because I absolutely loathe the song, and will NOT be singing it in the garden!!!

I got that one this year because I like the colors, and because I don't mind the song so much. Would be a different story if I loathed the song.
