Rita, do you think there's any chance they would want everyone to evacuate from Long Island if the hurricane zooms in?

Betty, I have to laugh. There are tons of people on Long Island and only afew bridges and tunnels outta here. Never going to work in my opinion. Well, not unless people go really early and that never happens.

I was watching the news that said it is coming our way. Trouble is if it just veers a little bit one way or another east or west it would make a big difference. Long Island is fairly big and well, long. So far they say landfall well away from the city and out towards the east end of LI at Mountalk (very end). Will have to watch and see. One good thing is that I am on the north shore, not the south shore and not in a low lying area.

No good. The lastest forecast has it veering west so that means it hits right here on Long Isand, the city and the tri state area. Parts of New Jersy and South Shore low lying parts of Long Isand getting evacuation orders.

Great beauties once again -- Gee, I sure wish that old hurricane would take a right turn along the way! I'd hate to see this show end prematurely!

Betty, I am wondering if any scapes or blooms will survive after the storm. Seems unlikely.

Hang in there Rita! I hear it's weakening, plus it's heading for cooler waters...

Do you have any stakes you could use on some of the scapes with lots of buds? It might be worth a try.
