Let me tell you, cutting off those scapes was downright painful, but
thought it best to help the plants focus on root growth at this point.
The plants are in pots which I bring inside when temperatures fall,
but still I worry about them even though they look fine. I'll put them
in the ground around the first of May so they can have the advantage of
more nutrient uptake than is available in the potting soil.
We are having temps in the high 70s and low 80s for now, so
hopefully no more hard freezes.
I admit, I'm like an old mother hen looking after her chicks when it
comes to these plants.
