Since I didn't order one daylily plant last year, this year I splurged and went all out. I may regret this when I have to dig all these holes in May and June, but the deed is done, and now I am committed. No doubt I will be very busy for the entire summer. Here's my list of plants arriving in May. Thumbs up

Fred and Alex - Nice lists!

Alex - Do you have Cosmic Kaleidoscope dip? I'm always curious of the difference between a dip and it's tet conversion. If you do indeed have both, I would love to see photos of the two plants and their blooms when the flower season arrives for both of them. Am very interested in the comparison of how they each look when comparing photos side by side.

WOW -- yesterday I received my order from the Trimmers at Water Mill Garden, and once again they are beautiful, huge fans -- and they included great gift plants too! And on Tuesday I got notification from Floyd Cove and Art Gallery Gardens that they have shipped my orders! It's finally happening... Hurray!

Wow, that's wonderful, Betty! I can't wait to get mine too from Floyd Cove. We are getting a long warm spell beginning this weekend so I asked Karen from Floyd Cove to ship my plants this Monday. I am planning to pot them up and put them against the south side of my house. Hopefully I will get some blooms from these new plants this summer. Hurray! Hurray!

Betty: The boxes are arriving. Hurray! Your season has finally arrived. It's a heady feeling. You are months ahead of us in the northland. Enjoy.

Becky: To answer your question, which is one that I have wondered about as to the comparison of the diploid bloom vs.the tetra converted bloom for Carpenter's 'Cosmic Kaleidoscope', I am afraid I can't answer it, as I don't have the diploid version. CK was converted I believe in 2012. I had to pay a lot more for the Tet version. But I felt I needed it in my hybridizing program. It will be fun working with it. Patrick Guidry has shown some pictures of the Tetra Conversion of "Cosmic Kaleidoscope' which I have copied here from the Internet for you.

Just wanted to mention this one story I had this week with hybridizer, Pete Harry, on the phone this week. I noticed on his 'Galleries' pages of plants, that a lot of Frank Smith's flowers were being sold out. For those of you weren't aware, Pete Harry brought out Frank Smith's nursery in 2012. Pete is eager to have his new intros in his gallery of pictures, and is phasing out or selling a lot of Frank's intros. Space is always a much needed commodity with our gardens. So for anyone looking for some of Frank's older intros like 'Happy Happy', 'Bullfrog Kisses', Elvis', 'Glamour Puss' etc. from this hybridizer, you can contact Pete, or check out his auction aka 'Amazing_Daylilies' on the LA.

Thanks, Alex! Sure looks beautiful as a tet. Thumbs up

Maybe someone else here has the dip of Cosmic Kaleidoscope'?

Thank You! Becky Thank You! for the acorn. But I really didn't answer your question. I am certain there is someone/member who could answer this question as CK (the dip) is a very popular plant. It's very hard to find info on these Kaleidoscope plants that have been converted to tets on the Internet. The only person who writes about conversions is Bill Waldrop, and they are fascinating to read. He converts a lot of dips to tets with pictures in his newsletter, which I love to read. Bill's monthly blog is not only very informative but highly entertaining to read.

I have both. I'll try and remember to get pics of them this year. They look very similar except the conversion doesn't open quite as well for me.

James - Oh! That would be great! I'd really like to see the dip and it's tet conversion side by side in photos.

Alex - Showing me photos of the tet conversion photos was worth the acorn. I mostly see dip photos when I do a search.

Here is my diploid COSMIC KALEIDOSCOPE, both in sunlight and in shade.

I also have the tet conversion, but it has not bloomed for me in the two years that I have had it.

That dip bloom is very pretty. It is so disappointing to have a plant 2 yrs and no blooms Angry

Betty - Thanks! I am just really curious about the performance differences between dip and conversion tet cultivars. Blooms do look similar. Sorry to hear your conversion of this cultivar is taking some time to bloom. I wonder how fertile the conversions are?

Beautiful -- and thanks for the pictures! I also received my orders yesterday from the Pierces at Floyd Cove and the Lambertsons at Art Gallery Gardens. These hybridizers never disappoint -- beautiful fans and gift plants! I just finished potting up the Trimmer order (9 plants) yesterday, and now I need to get going on these two latest orders (14 plants total) today. We hoping for rain by tomorrow (hope hope!!!), so I need to get everything done today... It's such an event when it rains here! Hilarious!

Spunky.....Nice haul. You will be busy this weekend. Lovely fans. Seeing your order is such a pleasant tease for all of us in the North. Spring is on its way. folks.

Betty & James: Thank You! Thanks for the info on Tet. CK, and the dip pix, Betty. I have some plants that may not bloom every summer, skip a summer, then bloom like crazy the following summer. 2 yrs. not to bloom is a long time. Betty, was it a small fan when you received it? I will give my fan of Tet CK the best opportunity to increase and bloom that I can. Sunshine, an extra handful of alfalfa meal, some seaweed tea, and a prayer. I don't expect it will bloom this summer. A lot of the new plants I have ordered have Tetra conversions in them. So I will be learning a lot of new information as I move along here.

Wow, Fred -- it just sunk in that you said you've gotten the entire Lambertson dip collection! What a fantastic collection that is, and how I envy you!!! I did get ASIAN EMERALD CUCKOO, PATTERNED PILLAR and TRIPLE TRINITY, and they sent CIRCLE GAME as a gift plant, but all of those dips in that collection are absolutely incredible! Way to go Fred! Thumbs up

I haven't bought many new daylilies in the past couple of years but I should have some nice seed for the auction this fall, with the others I have. I only want to plant 1600 and the remainder will be sold.
