Alice, Thanks for that link ... I hadn't heard of them and I don't find an address on their website or in the phone book. I'm curious as to where they are located in Vero; I may have to give them a call and make an appt. Smiling

Lin, did you read about that guy who owns the croton place? He has incredible experience, and he also sells at the McKee botanical garden in Vero beach. It's on my travel list now!

I wonder if he just sells plants at McKee Botanical Garden when they have particular festivals during the year? We went to McKee in early summer for the Water Lily Festival and there was one vendor selling water lilies and other aquatic plants, one selling orchids and another selling Tillandsias but we never saw any other types of plants for sale that day. We just went back again a couple of weeks ago for the Nature Connects With Lego Bricks exhibit: The thread "Lego Garden Sculptures at McKee Botanical Garden, Vero Beach" in Florida Gardening forum but there were no plants for sale at all that day.

I really don't know, Lin. He may just sell at their special events. It looks like he has some interesting plants.

You can visit there by appt. though. I had contacted him a year or so ago when I thought we would be in that area but as it turned out we never made it that far south in FL. They sound like a fascinating couple. A while back he emailed me about their offering plants online now. Lin, I think you need to go and tell us all about the place. Rolling my eyes.

I have purchased some hard to find Cordyline and Croton plants from Mark Peters numerous times in the past at the USF Botanical Gardens sales. Mark and his wife travel around the state selling at many of the plant sales.

I will seriously have to think about contacting him and try to make an appointment for a visit sometime after the hustle and bustle of the holidays!

I thought I would share these photos of a Ti seedling that I am excited about. This is a 2 year old seedling from 'Rooster Tail' coming into its first coloring. The leaves on this one are 3" long x .25" wide.

Nice! I had no idea it took that long to show its true colors.

I didn't either. In the past, I've given away ones that were solid green and a year old. Now I'll know better!

Very cool. Thumbs up I had to go look up Ti Plant (Cordyline fruticosa 'Rooster Tail') and I love the "adult" color of that one! You should add a photo of that juvenile coloration to the database!

Lin, The Ti plant is unstable and the seedlings will never look like the parent plant. That is what I find fun with growing them from seed, you never know what you are going to get.
I have seen it take as long as 5 years to see the final result from a seed and 99% start as plain ole green.

My one surviving seedling (less than a year old) has a nice blush on it. I will take a picture tomorrow.

I also had a great aunt (more of a grandmother to me) who was called Miss Minnie. She stayed out in her Va. garden tending (always in a dress) her flowers, fruit trees and veggies. She loved Irises and peonies the most. I named this one in her honor.
