Me either, Tom. I can do a pretty decent job of art forms with acrylics. Watercolor is supposed to be forgiving -- but I have not found it so......

Yup, Parker Pen Co. was here and a major employer for years. People quit buying the expensive pens and went for the bic. Now they are out of business. And then GM left here, and made this into almost a ghost town. And to think the city is annexing a couple thousand acres of prime farm land when about a 20% of the homes in town are abandoned due to repossession. Now let's see, we can add all this land and change it from prim agricultural land into concrete and black top. Let's just leave the empty homes to rot or be bought up by slum lords and have a nice inner city slum. Sounds like a wonderful plan to me. Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling

There was a Lady that lived here a few year ago who is an artist and also loved Iris . Her name is Nancy Glazier. We became good friends. She came to my home one day and had a portfolio of prints that she had just done. She wanted some iris and invited me to choose as many of her prints as I wanted as a swap. I felt she was being far to generous and chose 2. To make a long story short she also became good friends with Melba Hamblen, a well respected Utah Hybridizer and a Lovely Lady. A trip to Melba's garden each spring was wonderful. It was exciting to see her intros and seedlings and she also guested iris for most of the major hybridizers........I'm running on...........Nancy did an oil of Melba's Iris Inga Ivey. I just googled Nancy Glazier/Inga Ivey/Melba Hamblen and found sources of the print. It is just GORGEOUS. I think I might have one. You had better take a look Thumbs up

Paul, with so much information that you have to share I love it when you 'run on'. If there is someone here who does not like to read it, and I don't think there is, they can skip a bit but please do 'run on' for the rest of us.

Tom -- I just hate reading what you're expecting to happen in Janesville. I'm afraid that that scenario is happening all over this country. Our country is going to hell in a hand-basket. Sad

Election Day here too -- for Kentucky offices. Still not sure which crook to vote for.................

When I googled that, I got a picture of Melba a picture of two wolves kissing, and lots of photos of a pink iris from Daves garden. Confused

She is a little pricey but from my very limited expertise she is very good. One of the prints she gave me is of a buck and a doe Mule deer. They are standing in a grove of golden fall aspens and are back-lit. I find it as close to a photo as possible. I had it framed a few years ago and since then gave it to my son. He is a hunter. Framing isn't cheap. My other print is of three Prong Horn Antelope standing on a hillock looking into the distance. My wife was from Wyoming and when we went to visit we frequently saw Prong Horns........memories.....

Our Iris Society had a program by the fellows at Ensata Gardens. It was interesting that their first and most successful endeavor was to make stained glass vases and lamps as well as artwork in glass. I think the pictures they showed of their stained glass works rivaled the Siberians and Japanese irises they showed. They had monstrous beautiful pieces done for very influential people.
