a million thanks to Kathy for helping me find the name to this cutie..

Gigi..this is a pretty small flower compared to my other rather large Catt blooms...It had bloomed a lot...at my sisters..I could see all the old spike stems...when I was able to retrieve the files from my ancient IMac...I could see that I'de had this plant since 2011 and it had arrived in bloom then from Kawamoto Orchids..it already has 3 more spikes on the way after this one..
such a big heart on this little plant!
My Dendrobium moniliforme blooms on and off year around it has a bunch of buds and some open, lovely scented blooms right now. The plant itself looks wilder by the year!

Such pretty little flowers, Ursula. That one reminds me strongly of my Thunderstorm Orchid - Den crumenatum. I've been trying to figure out if it is one that needs to stay cool and dry in the winter. Mine blooms off and on, too. I got it for my birthday in March and it has bloomed at least 4 times since then!
Seeing in your pictures that this one is away in the corner near the door, do you keep it dry and cool now?
. . . so many different types of Dendrobium, with such varied needs!

I plan on dividing my large NOID Den. today. It is just so large and so heavy. I should get 2-3 smallish plants and it will still leave me with a pretty large one. It is back in bloom and has one inflo with flowers and another inflo with buds, but typically, my dividing her doesn't seem to hurt her feelings too much. She just goes right on blooming. She has now bloomed three times this year and each blooming cycles lasts about 2 months.

Elaine, I just moved it to the door to have a less busy background to take pictures.
Normally it hangs high up close to the ceiling for most sun exposure and it gets flooded daily. I have it grouped with all the other small species over the fish tank, so it is definitely not kept cool and dry.
Yep Gigi, that's it! I may have to give my new ( much smaller one) to my sister! While I was going through the file cabinet I found what I thought was an empty folder and it had a printed copy of my last ' Wish List' before I went off sailing...so now I can go back and see if I really still want, what I wanted then.
Ken..pretty colors on your Dendrobian.
Ursula, it's interesting how your Dendrobium moniliforme blooms on very short spikes on the sides of the canes...I don't think I've ever seen that before..and fragrant as well? Nice!
I keep waiting for the pace to slow down so I can catch up but it just keeps right on going. Between the singing and the garden Christmas parties, I've been swamped. Ursula, I love the Coelia bella. Very nice indeed.
Some new bloomers in the OC:
First up is this huge Rlc. Deecasso (Rlc. Déesse x C. Picasso). Great fragrance
Then there is this Enanthleya [Eny.] Burkhalter's Eva (Ctt. Eva x E. tampensis)
I love this one so much, I have two plants: Epicattleya [Epc.] Rene Marques 'Tyler' (Epi. pseudepidendrum x C. Claesiana) This is plant 1:
Followed by plant 2:
Aliceara [Alcra.] Clownish (Brat. Charles M. Fitch x Onc. Solana) is blooming nicely.
And finally, Laelia [L.] Rocky Clough (L. gloriosa x L. undulata). This used to be Schom. Crispa X Schom. undulate. See how far we have come

No comment on the name thing (well . . . Laelia?? really??) but what a fabulous display, Jim. Particularly the Burkhalter's Eva and Clownish are right up my alley.
Found a lovely surprise today, hiding behind my Lou Sneary 'Blue Bird' that is now finally finished. I lifted it to move it back up where it likes to grow and Voila! The big noid Catt has opened a nice spike. Guess it has forgiven me for busting it out of its old pot with a hammer and re-potting it. There's another sheath in the middle looking good, too.
My favorite "opal" Spathoglottis keep on opening flowers, ongoing since August. Guess this ridiculously warm weather is good for something, huh?
And I always seem to have Yellow Birds of some sort blooming, which is just fine by me.

Lindsey, congrats on the job at Busch Gardens. Don't worry too much about the 3:00 AM starting time. After all, there will be no traffic and it will be cooler during the summer. Besides, I predict you will be running the place in short order. By the way, you received lots of compliments yesterday at the Tampa Orchid Club board meeting for your photography work.
Speaking of summer, it is still with us. I finished up the Xmas decorations in shorts and a T-shirt today. They are predicting a cool down this weekend so maybe I can get my big boy pants out again.

Speaking of which. Y'all probably know my wife is an artist and loves to paint my orchids when they bloom. I just do photography.......can't draw a straight line. She came in yesterday from her final Arts Council meeting of the year and told me that the president of the arts council/exhibition director asked her if I would mind hanging four of my orchid photographs and she hang four of her orchid water colors in the upcoming exhibition in January. What a surprise that was. I have never even considering showing the photographs much less putting a price on them (they are 16x20" and 18x24" on canvas).

Jim, I'm so in love with your [Eny.] Burkhalter's Eva...and if you need to find a home for your extra Rene Marques 'Tyler' ..I could find room for that!
I'm glad the orchid club is happy with my photos...its a stretch for me to do people...especially indoors..and it drives me crazy having such a busy back drop for the flower pictures , but I'll get it all sorted out!
Will I have to get the wheel barrow ready for the cold snap that they are calling for?...( images of Jim and his GIANT monster plant before the OC )
Gosh , Elaine...that NOID is stunning...I would stop the car for that one! What a beautiful picture of your Opal...love the colors! I've got a yellow bird with a spike...I love the form on that one!
Congratulations Ken,...this might be just the ticket to get more bloomers in the sunroom ..so they can have their portraits done

Don't know about the wheelbarrow, Lindsey, but I'd sure have a good big sheet of frost cloth (some rocks or bricks to weigh it down and a package of bulldog clips to hold it in place) on hand for Friday and Saturday nights. There's lots of residual heat left in the ground right now, but after the cold front passes through, the wind (your favorite thing) can blow hard, cold and dry from the NW for a day or two which is really tough on the orchids, especially when they haven't had a gradual cool down to get used to the idea (yet).
I've got frost cloth "windbreaks" ready to spread inside the pool cage, and all my Vandas and tender Dens (those ones we got for $3 in Apopka) are coming indoors for a spa weekend. Here are my windbreaks furled up and held in place by the bulldog clips. Friday afternoon I'll be setting sail . . .

Elaine, your noid Cattleya is a beauty! I love that color!
Jim, always a gorgeous show! The Alcra Clownish is really catching my eye!
We had a nice warm spell here too, temps are more moderating for this time of year today, but by Sunday we might look again at 60 degr. No complaints on my part!
Still hot as heck here...hard to believe the temperature will be dropping into the mid 40's here in Tampa tomorrow night.
Meanwhile...back at the bench..two new buds opened on Blc. George King 'Serendipity'
they opened a distressing mauve color yesterday..but seem to be pinking up a bit today.
and the almost impossible to photograph color of Slc. Andrull 'Krull's Scarlet' x Pot. ( Jim Krull x Elaine Taylor)
just opened this morning
We are supposed to get down to 31F tonight, 26F tomorrow night, and then back to 30F Sunday morning. Then it is supposed to stay above freezing at least for the following ten days.
