Beautiful orchids Lindsey, I love Krull's Scarlet. I always have trouble photographing red flowers, they just never look like they do in person.

We are supposed to get down to 39 tomorrow nigh and 43 on Saturday but we'll be in Asheville where it will be colder still.. The whole East coast is forecast to be very warm next week. Weird.

I'm with you on the Krull's Scarlet, too. I have that one and as Lindsey says, you just can't find a setting on the camera that captures that rich red.

Beautiful blooms, Lindsey, Ellaine and Jim.

Jim my favorite is the "Clownish" onc.

Ellaine I think my orchids are confused too. My spring blooming Catt has a bud that should open any time now.

Wow, that is way too early. Mine is still a few weeks away. Mine usually blooms in January, if we have a warm January.

Not sure about this Catt, because it has bloomed for me around the beginning of January for the last few years. This is its third bloom cycle for this year, a real trooper this one!

Raining but still warm here this morning, and more on the way. Once it's past the temps will drop and the wind will arrive. I'll be schlepping orchids into the house and covering things up, as the temperature is forecast to go down to 46 tonight. That's going to be a shock for my garden!

Such a nice color! Pretty!

I guess, living in NJ carrying everything inside in the Fall makes it sort of final and then you are done! If that makes sense.... Smiling

Well, this back and forth exercise certainly is an incentive to me not to let my collection get too much bigger, Ursula. At most, about 20 plants come inside. It's healthy exercise and makes me check on everybody for problems. Then when they're indoors I have to fuss around keeping the humidity up if we turn on the heat in the house.

With the number of orchids and the many gorgeous big ones you have, it's a good thing you only have to move them twice a year!

This chilly blast is only scheduled to last two days, then we're back to 80 for high, 60's for lows. Everybody's going back outside for next week.

Lindsey, that is one beautiful Vanda.

Worst part about this weather is that nothing is hardened off, even a little. If the cold had come on gradually one cool night would not have mattered but everything is flush with new growth here.

Cattleya Nancy Off 'Linwood' ('1010') is now hanging at the entrance, so the white blooms can't be missed. And more 'Lemon Chiffon' are opening on both plants.

No kidding, three different colors of floof at once - I just can't take it all in!

Lovely though.
