LOL, I have my moments ... just ask my husband. Rolling on the floor laughing Really though, I do try to keep a positive and happy attitude as much as possible but sometimes it is difficult and I just have to distance myself from some situations. I even had to unfriend one of my nieces on FB last year. She is 46 years old-going on 12 and has way too much drama in her life. I realize that some people thrive on drama and discord but I think it's such a waste ... life is just too short. Now, don't get me wrong; as I said, I have my moments and there are times when I have to give myself a good talking to. Green Grin!

Lin (((hugs))) Long time no see. Good to see you all again. I like being with friends, whether they are still Gardeners or not, my net friends are really the only friends I have in my life, except my hubby. Whether I see them here or there or anywhere, I am always thrilled. I got to meet Patti, was thrilled to meet her. We are getting to know each other at a good pace, I think.

DG was easy for me to stay at since I only visited a couple threads on a regular basis. I see they are here, too. and on Facebook. Where ever you are, whoever you are, if we have had the opportunity to help each other in some way, thank you.

DG beta testing? I think the subscribers are the beta test. I don't get how it can have so many bugs.
Jim - you know you can turn off the ads over there, right? That was about the first thing I did when I subscribed.

Perhaps the cream of the crop were the first to come here.

I stumbled upon ATP when doing a Google search. Was not impressed with the info I found on a DG thread and clicked the ATP search link. Been here since. I did lurk for some time cause at that point I was not happy at DG and didn't want to hop from skillet to frying pan.

DG's Garden Watchdog is still good...for reviews from 2000 to 2009. If you want anything more recent you'll probably be disappointed.

Welcome, Kanuallc. I've been at DG for almost ten years. Have had a few problems before, but nothing like this, so I've been recommending that people there check out this site. I really like it. I have good friends at DG and hope they can get their problems solved but right now I don't have the patience to cope with all the problems nor the inclination to try to help solve them. I figure Admin created the problems with no warning to members so they can jolly well fix them without our help. Which they mostly seem to ignore anyway. Admin there needs an atitude adjustment. Maybe the number of DGers that are now here, mostly or entirely, will help.

On a more cheerful note, it is a beautiful day here. Temp is probably in the 60's, the sky and the Sea are blue and my garden is growing like mad. Can someone here recommend where cheery posts like this would be at home? I like to chat.

Katiebear, check out forums that interest you and/or the best regional fit - perhaps Pacific Coast Gardening for you? Most will have a chat thread, weather thread, daily gardening thread, etc. In the Sandbox forum are both Grumpy and Happy threads that are both way too long for me to slog through, but I'm sure you can just go to the end and jump in.

This week I discovered somebody (here, in Chile) used some of my Tropaeolum pictures on a scientific publication. This person no only did not give me the credit for the pictures, but posted them as her own.

Well, those pictures were taken in my early DG times, with a digital camera a very generous DG member gave me when he renewed his. They were one of my first attempts and most were less than poor quality. However, there was one I was able to reduce to the interesting part of the picture and I obtained a second image by 'cutting out' just one flower. This last picture has an abnormal size/shape, since I did the whole operation on the camera and was not experienced. I discarded the original picture and saved the 'reduction' and the 'cut out'. If you want to see the pictures, I posted them in ATP's PDB under Tropaeolum rhomboideum.

My first search at DG was for Tropaeolum rhomboideum at the PDB, but to my dismay the whole entry had 'vanished'. OK, maybe (yeahhh) I 'forgot' to enter it at the PDB, so I went to my personal information, to check all my postings and see if I might have posted the pictures on a thread. I found a listing of 31 pages with the details of what I posted - checked the first page only to realize that post would have had to be at my early time at DG and skipped to page 31, but this page listed the same posts as page 1, clicked to go to the second page ..... that listed the same as the first and so on ....... always showed the listing of the first page.

I did a general search for this Trop. and it showed me just a few species, but not the one I was looking for. I also realized the list of Tropaeolums does not show other Tropaeolums I posted, such as T. azureaum (make a Google search for pictures and you will find lots of pictures I posted at DG) and other Trops.

I am so glad to be active at ATP for over a year (since I was able to buy a new computer)!
