I must admit that I never felt I had anything to contribute, so didn't. I must be one of those "flotsam" types who DG doesn't care if they're there or not....
Anyway, with the extension I'm paid up until July sometime, so I'll see what happens.
In the meantime, I guess I'll ride the coattails of those who DO contribute

LOL Susan, I'm sure you did contribute a lot as a regular daily user...just think how many clicks per day on DG you personally racked up! Even now, when Rosie or David or I check in there, we are part of the 'traffic' that drives the value of the site! Plus IB then tracks where else we go before and after DG log in and throws a customized ad our way off site .

Maybe the expertese will come from thos who fill one of these garden writer job openings at IB?

I've definitely been spending more and more time on ATP, but there are still some places I check into on DG... most of those threads are still "visible" to me whether or not I subscribe, but I decided to renew this morning in order to be able to post in those forums. It's not the great investment it used to be, LOL. I agree, as subscribership diminishes (and as remaining subscribers become more frustrated and less active), the site founders.

Meanwhile, ATP is definitely taking on a larger and more visible role with the acquisition of NGA! There's been so much done here already in a relatively short time... I'm really excited about seeing where the next 5 or 10 years takes us!

Me too, Jill. I have friends both places and on Cubits. PlantFiles is a big draw but I think that it has also gotten a bit messed up during all this.

I haven't submitted any articles in months, since things started getting wonky at DG. I hope they will at least continue to make the articles accessible... so much good information there! I know the article database and PF continue to generate a good number of hits, so however you feel about the parent company now, let's hope those resources remain profitable enough that all the hard work that went into them continues to be appreciated and useful.

I have friends who only post only over there and I don't want to abandon them over someone else's mistakes and offenses. I don't like the way some things were handled, but I would really want to take that up with the offending party. In this instance, I don't feel right about taking "sides".

Yep, it's like moving out of an apartment building because you don't like the new landlord, when you still love your neighbors there. Granted, there are fewer and fewer "neighbors" left at Dave's Old Garden, but still. I figure I can love ATP without needing to hate DG.
