I'm another that sure didn't want it to fail. But the truth is that I haven't learned anything about gardening there in years. I hung in only for the gang in Coffee and I'm sad that a few of them don't want to come over here (or set up a private group on FB). I was on the fence about renewing last year. They pushed me over it.

I am on the fence about those fences...getting pushed over it..is maybe is easier than climbing it and getting those pesky splinters. I got pushed over it too...but I was climbing for a long while hoping management would at least peek over from the other side and wave hello with a fix or two in hand.....but it did not come.

Can you imagine what would be the reaction if a company like Amazon had website problems like DG? Would customers be so patient and so thankful when something works? Or would they simply go elsewhere quietly? I hope Admin at DG has some appreciation for those people who are so forgiving and grateful to them.

Here it is so different. Did you see the wonderful banner today - clover? I love clover - me and the bees!

Could be that the frustration level is rising with the stalwart DG supporters and the cracks are showing. It would seem that IB and Admin just keep kicking them in the face and that's what's sad. Even the most reasonable members are getting a little testy.

I have been trying to pull it...but it looks sorta pretty with the chartreuse creeping jenny.

Just a quick note to let my friends here know I'm still alive. Still with breathing problems which are gradually getting better. I'm in San Diego. My transmission went out just before I got here and my trip has been delayed and delayed. May be able to head home next week if my ordered plants arrive OK.

Inky Dink is with me and keeping me cheered up. The public library in Chula Vista has free computers and fenced in dog areas next door.

When I get discouraged I think of Susan and Bob and attempt to reflect their patience. I have a puppy and lots of books. All I need is patience.

@katiebear - patience is bearing fruit! We're going through a walkthrough with our tenants at noon, May 31st, and are able to move in right afterwards, because a walkthrough means they are OUT and are passing over the keys. We're going to change the locks right away, and put in the security system the next day Hurray!
We have 10 days to give them an accounting of their Damage Deposit and return any due to them (As IF!! Given the damage they've actually reported being done to the place, that they are attributing to US, not them Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing ).
We're SO happy to be having them Out, and us IN, and moving from this tiny, inadequate, and inappropriate place, back to our Own Home!! Hurray!
Good things come to those who wait....... Lovey dubby

Katie - I wish you all the best, and as we know that God listens to all prayers (and sometimes the answer is "no" as Bob & I can attest to), I continue to pray that you have all you need, and your health continues to improve. God Bless You! Lovey dubby Angel

Oh, no, sorry to hear about transmission problems, Katie! I hope it just needs cleaning and fluid. I have asthma, too, and I work in a dog grooming shop. I love the dogs enough to suffer a little, and thankfully the inhaler Symbicort prevents it from being too bad. Like Advair, I have to gargle and spit after using it so I don't get the yeast infection (I think the warning paper called it "thrush". eeew!)

I wish you the best in dealing with the tenants, and in moving, Susan. I've been a renter most of my adult life, and my personal policy is that I strive to leave the property in better condition than it was when I moved in. When I divorced and moved back to KY, I lost my house in California to the bank, due to the glut of houses on the market when a large air force base closed. Even a short sale didn't produce any offers. I cleaned the house from top to bottom, even shampooed the carpets.

I visited friends there a year later, and stopped to see my old home. Whoever was responsible for taking care of the property had let the grass/weeds in the back yard get three feet tall! It made me cry, especially when I found a lego piece from my son's toys on the ground. It was the only house I ever had. A couple of years later when I visited, there was a family living in the house.

As for DG, when I checked in yesterday, my homepage had changed, and I didn't change it! The birthday list was moved from the top to further down on the page! I changed it back. Grumbling

@kywoods - aw how heartbreaking for you that must have been.

I don't expect much when we move - certainly not to be clean & tidy, and the garden untended for a year... we shall see, in the meantime we're not going to look at the property OR house. Shrug!

I know a lot of my DG friends check out this thread so I'm posting here.

I just started a thread here on the Sandbox about my long-term problems with my retirement association.

Looking for support and, ideally, some publicity about these people.

Check it out if you will.

thanks, katie

Ann -- our group set up a FB private page. My DG lapsed a few weeks ago, so i just keep in touch with our How Was Your Day gang on FB. I'm so busy now anyways -- I dont get on as much as i used to.

I do miss our hosta group, but I gather most moved over here anyways since the DG groups has been very slow for years.
I finally got out and took photos of my hostas... got a few from alnitro/Jeff yrs back and it had me fondly remembering our group.

Now that a bit of time has passed, I have been reflecting about DG and what happened. Since I did not renew (for the first time in many years), I can no longer see any serious threads. I was sad that after being a member for so long, no one (or not even an automatic bot) bothered to ask me why I was not renewing or invite me to come back). I go there now and find mostly old threads with few up to date entries. I realize I may just be looking in the wrong places and a new person may find it an interesting site. Well - life goes on and the banner today on NGA (I almost said ATP) is lovely as usual.

I think I am good until September. I go back every now and again but just to the bugs and updates to see.....well.....what is updated..!! There is nothing from the administrators or the folks from IB that I can see ..but that does not mean things are not working better technology wise. I do know that there is nothing new on the few threads that I was following......either that or there are new entries and things not updating properly and so I don't see updates notifications .....I don't actively search for new to ascertain. With regard to the bugs and updates thread..I still have to start from the beginning and find the last page.
