Mary, that's very interesting that DG is no longer showing up on their web site listings... maybe they sold it to someone else? or maybe they really ARE just going to kill it off? Blinking

Why would they bother to d this upgrade if they planned to close it? I agree that there does not seem to be any mention of a gardening site on their website when I went directly to it. I googled "gardening and Internet brands" and it took me to a page showing their brands and there was Dave's Garden. However, when I clicked high on the page "Our Brands" it took me to another page not showing DG. So I don't know what, if anything, it means.

I guess we'll find out sooner or later!

(calling it an "upgrade" seems to be putting it extremely kindly at this point, though...)

I wonder what their subscriber numbers are. Those of us with time left can be counted, but eventually they'll drop as most of us don't renew. I feel sorry for those left working for IB, trying to change the format and finding problem after problem.

Apparently DoG has been sold again, in 2014........ no longer Internet Brands owned

IB has been sold in 2014, which I assume means that DG goes along with that sale. So ..... ?????

You may find this timeline interesting. Even though they were "acquired" in 2010, they are still dba Internet Brands. Then in 2014 they were a separate entity purchase by KKR&Co, but that means they are still dba Internet Brands.

I did post this on the other Mutiny thread but since I asked and can answer my own question this is what someone from over there posted.

4/1/2013
there were 4504 subscribers,

12/15/2014
count was down to 2798,

(01/05/16) the subscriber count is 2068,

And on the Dave's page:

1/17/2016
730,907 members
241 (0.03% of all members) have signed up in the last 7 days.

My guess is... that is total number of userID's that they have in their database.
You can be a member, but a non-paying member and still use the site -- not fully, but when discussing "members" they are looking at the border picture, not the declining paying members. There is no way DoG is over 700,000 paying members.

Most of the forums I have participated in within the past 8+ yrs... they are dying.

Right on about DOG. Once you sign in you are a "member" even if you never come back. I don't really understand why they continue subscribers at all. The total number of subscribers wouldn't pay even one salary at the site. All their revenues must come from ads. And if there's no action on the forums (many of which you have to be a subscriber to access), why would anyone want to advertise?

I still don't understand changing the look. It sounds like those with the iPad's and such are having more trouble. Oh well, I'm glad I left.

Today my safe haven includes breathing which is much improved and good medical news and a visit with my niece whom I hadn't seen in twenty years!!!

I was in the hosopital for four days. Lots of tests. When they tried to release me after two days I refused to leave. I still can't believe I did that but they kept me for another two days and redid some tests, did others at more depth and a couple new ones. What I was doing "naturally," curling up around my sore side and hunching my shoulders was inhibiting my breathing and making the situation worse. I'm now breathing better and am in much less pain. I'll follow up with my GP and some other tests.

I'm hoping to be able to head home towards the end of next week.

I had a great roomate at the hospital and it was one of those satys which could have been so much worse that I won't complain about the minor problems. Excelent doctors and nurses. After my refusal to leave earlier they were pleasantly surprised when I agreed to leave yesterday even though I still don't have a definative diagnosis. They were able to rule out most of the "worst case" scenerios and I am doing much better.
.
My neice and I met up at our hotel yesterday afternoon and are enjoying a quiet reunion.

Susan, you are especially in my prayers as your next court day approaches. Hangin girlfriend, this too shall pass.

love and hugs to all of you. I'll be back soon to catch up on the days I missed.

Katie..did they give you a device to breathe in..looks like a cylinder / tube with a plastic short corrugated hose attached to a mouthpiece? Where you would raise a bellows or plastic ball as you breathe in? This device will help you get air to the side you are under inflating because of that curling body position you have adopted.

If not..(...you really don't need it...) Just sit up straight --take a slow ...chest filling ...deeeeeeeep inspiration to capacity. When you reach capacity....hold it...hold it ...until you cannot and then ...COUGH! Do that a few times each day to prevent atelectasis on that side of your chest. Under inflation can give you a feeling of being short winded.

Glad to hear that you're breathing more easily. Rosie - that sounds like excellent advice re: sitting and breathing deeply!

Katie,
That is great news! I am really surprised they didn't go ahead and kick you out. Maybe now you can get over whatever it is.

Katie - I hope you are getting better and can return to your home soon. It is surprising that you were allowed to stay in the hospital longer - in many cases the insurance company would refuse to pay and the hospital would discharge the patient. Perhaps the medical personnel were also wanting to go further to diagnose your problem and were willing to code so as to get insurance approval. Or maybe you are just very persuasive!! Anyway, hope you are doing better and can get home where it may be a lot warmer than it is here!

I am much better already. Having my niece here is great and I just slept about 16 hours!!! My breathing is muc better and I have very little pain - more like discomfort.

There are a couple of reasons I thinnk they kept one. First, it's Kaiser and they own the hospital so billing is different. It's an HMO and the best as far as I'm concerned. Also, besidewhatever powers of persuation I may have, they knew I was not faking the breathing problems. The problems were bad enough that they acted as if it was an Emergency - ambulance, private room in the ER for two days, etc so to insist I leave with no improvement and no explanation would not have been good. For either of us. I think they accepted rather quickly that more testing was a good idea. For whatever reasons it helped me a lot to stay and I was comfortable about leaving when I did.

Also, there has been recent publicity about a woman who died when the hospital refused to admit her, My breathing problems were bad enough that they sure didn't want another incident like that!! They know about bad publicity.

They also never were able to diagnos what the problem is. I figured out the posture part which helped. They assured me that I should return if things got worse again and set up an appointment for me to see my primary care doctor Tuesday morning.

Today Elizabeth and I are going to the beach. I've never been to Dog Beach here and it's close by. We're both dog lovers..
