oh gosh yes, they do - don't they have 7 children? I remember when the last one was born - we all watched and waited anxiously - that's because we're a FAMILY - Dave & Trish, the kids, and Us (their other "kids") Rolling on the floor laughing Lovey dubby

Thanks all, especially Stillwood and handsome dog! Like both avatars but the chicken watching one makes me chuckle! It is the same dog?

Yes - Mariposa - both pictures are one and the same - Charlie (officially Half-a-Harley) - originally from O'BJ Kennel in NC - bred by Barbara Andrews. We got him when he was one year old (she had kept him hoping to breed him, but she developed some health problems and decided to place him). It was a happy day for us. He is a rough and ready guy who loves his family and is highly suspicious of the rest of the world (dog and human). We love him!

Unnh-Oh!

That's not as bad as cats gaining opposable thumbs, but might have a downside.

Like a burglar with a raw burger. Is it breaking and entering if a cat burglar bribes a dog with a burger?
Seems like that should only be "bribing and entering".

GROAN... Rolling my eyes.

My Shepherd mix Abby had a hate hate relationship with the mailman. When she was about 4 months old, she was on her run and the mailman decided she was dangerous because she barked at him. There were nearly 10 feet between the end of her run and the mailbox, but that didn't stop him from emptying a can of HALT in her face. An expensive visit to the vet.

After that, we had to keep her inside as best we could...she broke 4 windows and destroyed a sofa before I discovered the mailman was tapping on the window when he dropped the mail in the box. He denied it, but I saw him. We bought a free-standing mail box and mounted it at the end of the driveway and things calmed down. But, he continued to tease dogs along his route...until the pair of Doberman's discovered the latch was loose on the gate....fortunately the neighbor across the street
videoed the whole thing...the mailman was poking a stick thru the fence and laughing.....

No accounting for some people Angry

Good for the Dobermans. Call it evolution in action. I'm sure fresh red meat was good for them. When you said he maced a TETHERED dog, I started hoping he would get what he deserved.

One of our neighbors has an outdoor cat. This cat goes from house to house in our dense-packed manufactured home park.

He knows which houses have INDOOR cats that spend time looking out the windows.

He goes to each such house and struts around in front of the cat-windows to mock their captivity, and then moves on to the next house.

Sounds like he and that mail man are soul-mates.

oh Jean - I cannot Stand to hear of people who torment animals and then blame the furries!! That's cruelty, in the extreme!! Grumbling Angry

I suppose the mailman reported the dobermans? I know that here dogs would be put down for tormenting humans, but having the video tape would prove who was in the wrong - the Mailman!
and seriously - 10 ft away, and emptied the can of HALT in her face? Nasty and unnecessary. Angry Grumbling

Yup, he certainly did... Fired and a few nasty bites and a law suit for the vet bills for injuries to both dogs. Justice is an animal lover.

It is like the old story about two men going before the same judge. The first fellow shot a man for insulting his wife. The judge fined him $50 and sent him on his way. The second fellow shot a cow. The judge sentenced him to a year in jail. When he protested and cited the first guy's crime, the judge smiled down at him and said "Feller, I ain't never met the cow that needed killing". Case closed. Thumbs up

Jean, what an awful thing about that mail carrier! Makes me extra grateful that our rural driver (a woman) always asks if the dogs can come out so she can pet them on the rare occasions that she has to drive up to our house with a package...

He was not a nice person, obviously. I was sorry the dogs got hurt, but so pleased they gave worse than they got. Hurray!

Maybe the outdoor cat was a mailman in one of his previous lives.

I'm in the beginnings of my "exploring", so am visiting dif threads and lurking to see what it's all about. Big Grin as I'm so over DOG.

browsing this thread (much thanks moonhowl!):
@RickCorey Like you, my screenname is the same for both sites. . .I've recognized others with the same screen names and those with slight alterations of their DOG sn Do people change their sn that often??
@Moonhowl Please, oh please, don't shut this thread dowqn yet.....I;m sure I'm not the only one exploring just now. . and this thread is very helpful. (I found it by accident and I wish there was a post in the Mutiny thread that it was here...or perhaps there was and I just missed it.)

My interests (aside from gardening): Sudoku, using my PC more productively, tweaking Windows 7, learning new stuff (right now, it's audiobooks and enlarging my music library - how to, where, etdc).

Special gardening interest is how to continue with physical limitations: like tools to help (a thread on DOG helped me find my wonder tool: a long-reach ultra-light weight pruning tool that enabled me to grow a whole class of plants I couldn't befopre as they needed deadheading).

I don't remember their names right now, but at least two people changed their screen name. If there were only two out of thousands, "hardly any".

Well, if two people met in DOG over some shared gardening interest, and both came to ATP, they'll probably find each other eventually. If nothing else, "I used to know someone back in the DOG XYZ forum that shares many of your opinions. ... Oh, that IS you!"

Sorry, I meant "changed the screen name they use online when they joined ATP after using some other screen name in some other online garden websites".

Someone (maybe on some other thread) talked about finding people she used to know from DOG, if they had changed their screen name when joining ATP.
