Sandy, I can't even begin to speak of your weather...your "mild" is my freezing. Your highs over the next few days are colder than our coldest winter days. I don't know how you live. Just come be a winter Texan. We'll accept you in. Rolling on the floor laughing

LOL, James -- that's certainly a nice offer (and a LOT of our friends do go south for the winter...); but we (fortunately) have a house with heat so we're pretty good to go... we also have 2 (big) collies and 2 cats, so be careful what you wish for!! Big Grin

Lots of flocks of geese flying south today while we were working outside... they might be a little smarter than we are Smiling

OMG!

Had to shovel snow to get out the back door this morning ..
Temp is -6F and, we got about a foot of very heavy snow .. hardly moveable with the shovel.
BUT .. the dogs love a run in it, but, want some 'personal space' .. soooooooooooo I shoveled as much as my arms and shoulders would take ..
Dontcha know it .. the snowblower is IN the garage !!
Gonna be a grunt n groan kinda day.

KEN .. I am flippin well amazed at your temps .. will it last ? 29F is not nice at all !!!

Sandy .. yep, Lake Superior is in a turmoil and, it seems it has tossed it off to Lake Michigan ..

Betty, you're lucky not to have gotten a piece of this storm .. lots of folks headed to Duluth turned back yesterday ..

Best feed the masses and get ready for a snow clear out day ..
I promise a pic or 2 Smiling

Mostly cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing. Breezy, with a NW wind 20 to 25 mph decreasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph

@MarilynneS, we are predicted to get down to 32F tomorrow AM, 30F Monday, and 32 Tuesday before the lows warm up to above freezing for a couple of days. From a high of 81F yesterday to a low of 39F this morning. We are not getting out of the 50's before Monday, and then just barely into the 60's. But though it is a breezy 10-15 mph wind out of the north, we have clear, blue skies.

Wow, Marilynne! That's a "turn around and go back to bed" morning.

Clear blue skies here. Waking up to 54F with a 26mph north wind and a feels like of 45F. High of only 64F today. Supposed to be colder tonight, but warming back up after. Our low on Monday night/Tuesday is 70F.

Well it is 26 degrees F here right now with approx. three or four inches of snow, although a lot has melted into the ground as it was not frozen before it snowed. 12 degrees tonight so it will be nippy.

I got my roses down south buried two day ago. I was working in a T-shirt and cut off blue jeans then without shoes; now I will probably have to wear shoes.
Fortunately the day before the snow hit I got all my outside work done although I did not finish turning the south garden over by hand and as it will be in the twenties at night down there that will not get done.
My neighbor up here did not chop up his leaves before he bagged them so I did not have to go looking for bagged leaves, or bag leaves, for the roses this year for the first time, EVER.
The Mulberry tree up here dropped its leaves, all not some, the night before it snowed so if the snow goes away next week, it is supposed to get in the upper thirties, I will have to go out to rake the lawn one more time.

It was cloudy and overcast here earlier, with on and off rains. So our overnights will improve after two nights of 37 to 39F. Expecting 54F to 56F range later. Much better! I think there will still be similar on and off rains for tomorrow.

It rained early this morning before I was awake, I just woke up to a wet terrace and already watered roof garden. The day was beautiful, warm and breezy and sunny, the high was 83°f. It's 74°f now at 9pm and supposed to get as low as 65°f tonight. That's cold for me, anything below 70°f is cold. We went out for a seafood lunch with some good friends, I had coconut shrimp which was delicious. I'm glad it is cool and sunny and hope this weather holds while we are in Cuba. The weather there should be very close to what we have here although La Havana is on the other side of the island from us. I bought a new thermal jacket, if I go out at night it is too chilly without one.

Jonna, that sounds lovely. I know I am a wimp, but this cold front is terrible. How long will you be in Cuba? Do you need a house-sitter while I wait for our warm-up? Whistling Hilarious!

I am only going for 5 nights and my house guy has already agreed to stay here with his wife and take care of the animals and the house. I am taking my son and his gf from Los Angeles along with my partner. It was kind of a bribe to get him to come down and see me. We will only be in La Havana as there isn't enough time for much traveling. I probably will go back at some point to see some of the rest of the island. I'm not really interested in the beach resorts, I lived on the caribbean for years, but I am interested in the art and the artesania from the countryside as well as the mountains and inland. My son is really interested in the old cars and I am too so I did book a tour for our first day there , 5 hours being shown the city in an antique car. Most people say and the pictures I've seen agree that the old part of the city is very much like this city I live in. Just another colonial Spanish sea port Whistling I think most of our time will be checking out the music, food and art. I'm feeling very intimidated about the Spanish, I will be the only one that is even semi fluent and the Cuban accent is a real challenge. I've been taking songs over to my friend from Puebla, MX to get help figuring out what they are saying and she just laughs at me and says she has no idea, she can't understand them at all. Her sister was married to a Cuban and she said that at family dinners he would say something and the whole family would look at her sister like 'what did he say?' Oh boy..

Jonna, that sounds like so much fun! I would be focused on the same things. Take lots and lots of pictures! Glad that your son is coming, even if it took a bribe. I hear it is a beautiful area culturally. I have a friend that lives up in Houston, and it always cracks me up when he comes to visit, because he will attempt to speak to people in Modern Latin/Mexican Spanish (which he claims to speak fluently), but his mom is Cuban and that is where he learned his Spanish. The locals here look at him the way that I look at them when they try to speak Spanish to me. Hilarious! I really should know Spanish by now, but I don't.

Sandy, you just come down and house sit for me here on the island, while I go and house sit for Jonna, that way we can all be warm! Whistling Thumbs up

HOLA :-)

LoL, my son just got back from Cuba, totally a 'tourista' trip, but .. he too is a history buff and has regaled us with pics of the OLD Havanna .. and, of course, the cars .. he definitely will go back ..

Hang onto yer hat James .. drum roll .. it is 17F here AND we have a wind chill pushing it down to about 12F.
Last night we fired up the woodstove .. HOO EEE .. did it get hot in here .. but, the heat still is pervading the house .. the bedrooms are cool ...

Enjoy your Sunday .. we still are on snow removal duty ..

Sunny. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning.

Pepper,
Yep, every truck that rolls down my road from the country brings a big cloud of it!
Nothing worse than a cold truck seat! Have a good trip!

Ken,
Your cold weather shock is worse than mine.

James,
Oh, I would take a 70° night!
BEAUTIFUL! Love the color and the waves. Great picture!

RpR,
I turned the garden by hand last year, but not this year.
I love that everyone is getting leaves from people this year, lol!
We still have a lot of leaves left on trees. My apple tree hasn't dropped any yet.

Tarev,
Lucky you with the rain!

Jonna,
Now that I'm slightly acclimated to the cooler weather, I sure could handle yours!
I hope Cuba is nice for you too.
Sometimes you do what you have to do to get family to not be too busy for a visit.
So laughing over the language barrier. Don't you suppose English is spoken there? I'm always amazed at how many people do know English.
Love the ''what did he say?"

James,
ROTFL! Now why didn't I think of house-sitting? Love that! Sandy house sitting for you. Awesome idea! We could all inch our way south!

Marilynne,
Not too far above you with a high of 21° when I got up at 3:30 am.
I would SO be backing up to that wood stove when it was first fired up. I was backed up to the space heater this morning.

Water is frozen in the birdbaths today guaranteed!

Ken, how are you holding up? I'm still amazed at your temp swing, being so far south.

Marilynne, I would never get anything done, because I would never leave the warmth of the stove Hilarious!

Woke up to 56F this morning. We're slowly working or way back up to normal temps. High of 66F today with a low of 64F tonight. After tomorrow we go back to the 70s. It should be 79F on Thanksgiving.
