We are in the low 50's at night, back up to the low 70's during the days. Don't hear many birds during the day, and night critters are equally silent. AA we hear now, 3 months later, is the sound of power tools and huge debris moving trucks.

We have friends living with us. They had a little over 7 feet of water in their home and it may be 2 or 3 months more before they will be able to move into a FEMA manufactured home.
We were spared the flood waters...by a mere 4 inches. Gardens also took a major hit. It is estimated that there were hundreds of chemicals let loose by the flood waters destroying sheds, garages, homes and storage facilities.
In the small town just northeast of Baton Rouge where my son lives 28,000 homes out of 29,000 sustain flood damage, some of which were a total loss. This flood dealt damage to close to 110,000 homes in the greater BR area and covered 4 parishes (counties). We were exceedingly fortunate that the loss of life was not greater and that so many folks took it upon themselves to launch their small boats and help so many trapped families to safety. Heros all in my book.
