Ginny, the City of Garland has a home rehabilitation program aimed at low-income residents. I applied in May of 2014 and it was a frustrating, arduous process just to get to the point of getting approval and having an initial inspection--which didn't happen until September of 2015. For various reasons, the contractor walk-through didn't happen until April 1st of this year, the work didn't start until end of May, and wasn't completed until mid-July. Lonnnnngggg process because so many hiccups kept needing glasses of water and breathing bags. Biggest and most painful hiccup was that the initial scope of work had to be changed because of some late information received on the lead paint abatement, and many items on the original work list had to be dropped to accommodate the new specifications within the allocated budget. Through it all, Rudy has been communicative, knowledgeable, concerned, informative, accommodating, patient, and just a generally all-around nice guy. Ann
@flaflwrgrl has been with me through the entire two and a half years and cheerfully read through treemail after treemail when I needed to rant about not getting any answers, etc., out of the staff until Rudy was assigned. Gosh, he was a relief! And Ann suggested thank you cards or notes be sent to him. Such a good idea.
