Yesterday, I sifted half a row in the vegetable bed, dug and pulled an (overflowing) five gallon bucket of nasty-grass, and moved half a dozen NOID Iris out of the holding pen to in ground. Not much new flowering at the moment, hoping for rain later today.

Read about someone local with a huge Iris display/sales garden who uses roofing tiles on the bed pathways. Have a slew of extra tiles from 2006 when the roof was replaced and decided to see what they looked like in the front yard. Hmm, not bad. Think I will leave them for awhile and ponder.

I don't know the answer to this, but is it possible the asphalt singles could leach anything into the soil? Don't know, just wondering

Debra, it may also create extra heat in the garden because the shingles are dark colored.

Endlessly fascinated with the centers on this Clematis, especially after the petals have dropped off.



Moved a Yew and two Boxwoods for the rehab workers in late Spring. Weird how one Boxwood is flourishing and the other died out in the middle.
