Thank You! @sallyg

@5601Lisa - I'll try to remember to put your name on one of the extra cuttings I rec'd of a pink brug. This bubbler things is really doing the trick. A green (which I'm told is normally a no-no to attempt rooting) piece of my Dr. Seuss broke off. Instead of throwing it away I threw it in the bubbler and it's getting lil knubbies already...woot woot!
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

Life is "mind over matter". If I d
The main thing with rooting brugs in a bubbler is that you HAVE TO change the water every 2 days or so. Once some slime sets in on the cutting's stems--it is hard to get rid of it. You have to clean everything!
Good luck! Keep an eye on the bubbler and the stems in it.

I just love these...they bloom when nothing else does - whether during the excessive heat of the summer or the crazy fluctuating fall temperatures.

What's the flower in your last photo, @Chantell? Aster? I have a large clump of asters, but no flowers this year. Deer ate them. Grumbling

On the inside though, the "albino" Amaryllis bulb is blooming nodding . It is an 'Apple Blossom'.

Gorgeous bloom Donna! I can't remember the Latin name for that plant but it's the ice plant that is hardy to our area. Took the picture with my cell phone so I don't know that it conveys clearly but it was almost iridescent - very cool looking in the sunlight!

The botanical name for ice plants is Delosperma. While most are single color, there are a number of bi- and tri-color varieties.

Hardy ice plant (Delosperma) is a succulent, perennial ground cover with daisy-like flowers. The ice plant is not called an ice plant because it is cold hardy, but rather because the flowers and leaves seem to shimmer as though covered in frost or ice crystals. The plants grow to be about 3 to 6 inches tall and 2 to 4 feet wide.

Ice plant flowers grow in USDA plant hardiness zones 5-9 and will bloom for most of the summer and fall. Their foliage is mostly evergreen and, because of this, they make a great year-round ground cover. While the plant is evergreen, it will often have some dieback of foliage in the winter.

Some popular varieties of ice plants include:
Cooper’s ice plant (Delosperma cooperi) – This purple ice plant is the most common variety
Hardy yellow (Delosperma brunnthaleri) – This species consists of lovely yellow flowers
Starburst (Delosperma floribundum) – An ice plant variety with pink flowers and a white center
Hardy white (Delosperma herbeau) – A white-flowered type that offers exceptional beauty

@Sallyg Love the blue chia flowers!!! Must try it next year!

Inspired by Sally, I went out to see if anything was still blooming. My biggest surprise was the perennial foxglove. Big Grin

1. Perennial foxglove originally from David
2. Coreopsis 'Red shift'
3. A surprise Japanese anemone protected by the house
4. Abutilon'Fairy Coral Red' from Muddy

I actually have confederate jasmine IN the ground...planted it about 8 years ago. With the last 2 winters being SO hard though it's barely come up (I will probably transplant it this coming spring - moving closer to the brick front while providing more sunlight then it's getting now that the cypress has grown so much). I did plant 'Madison' this year which is a smaller, more cold hardy variety of Confederate Jasmine http://www.monrovia.com/plant-... I'll better be able to tell you how it does come spring.
