The salmon colored holiday cactus from Gita's cuttings just opened up in bloom today. So far, the blooms from Gita's cuttings have been white, hot pink, and now this salmon color. I got five cuttings total - I think the other two may be a red and maybe another pink, but we shall see when they bloom. I just love holiday cactus. They are one of the few house plants that I haven't killed due to neglect, which means they are tough little guys Thumbs up

My yellow is covered with buds almost ready to pop. The pink, red, white and salmon aren't far behind. The key this year it to label them with something a bit more permanent. The wooden sticks just don't cut it after a few months outside.

Sally, it's just three cuttings in a copper pot but it looks fuller. Rick, a yellow Cc? Don't think I've seen one before.

“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Life is "mind over matter". If I d
Terri--

Your white one is, most likely, called "White Christmas".
I have many colored ones fro JB. We shared many!

YES! There is a yellow CC. Also a "Peaches and cream' and others....
The Salmon one almost died out. It seems to have recovered for this fall's bloom. It was the strongest one in the beginning. I think the soil and moisture did many of mine in.
The red one is quite unusual as the shape of it's bloom has a "blunt" end...
JB's favorite....

Most of them are doing OK. Watering needs to be VERY delicate Just moist is best. And timely. They like to be kept on the dry side after blooming too---kind of a dormancy period for 6 weeks.
Then you can water and take cuttings as they recover and "wake up"...

I have very pretty pictures of all of them. Just ask. I am too tired right now to post them all--but i will show you the yellow one. Yes! It exists. HD had it for sale last year.

RicM--
Your CC's look beautiful!
The yellow one seems to have some tinges of pink in them vs mine--which are solid yellow.
I have no idea what may have caused the dual colors. Pollination???
Then again--who says yours are different from mine? Nature does her own thing...

OMG that is a bloom of beauty. Now where did you find her???

ALL: gentle nudge...I encourage you to go do your NGA civic duty Rolling on the floor laughing and vote. Photo contest is up and ready for folks to vote. Yes, I finally after all of the years on DOG finally entered photos... http://garden.org/apps/photoco... Only a view days to vote....

For each category here are the instructions - once you've opened a 'gallery'

First, scan down this page , clicking on images to view them in full size. Then, for the ones you like, click on the star directly above it. The star will turn yellow and that image will now be marked as a favorite of yours.
Once you are done, refresh this page and you will then be given a link that takes you to the final ballot box where you will cast your 3 votes from among those images you marked as favorites.
Extra note: You can star as many as you wish. You can leave and return to this category as often as you like; the system will remember your starred images. When you return, your starred images will appear first in this list below. Refresh the page at any time to move your starred images to the top. Be aware, though, that each time you refresh the page, the images below will be rearranged again; the non-starred images are randomly sorted.

Chantelle,
I'm pretty sure I got them at Home Depot in Germantown. They weren't cheap at $18.00 each, but they had two and I took 'em both!

Gita,
There are actually 3 named varieties of yellow CC that I'm aware of. I put a T-Mail our to one of the members that has 2 of the 3 asking for help narrowing it down.
- Christmas Flame
- Outono Brazil
- Thor Alex

I just meant to encourage folks to vote...based on what you like not because it's mine. Group hug Ooops just reread your question...mine are in the following: trees and shrubs, macro, wildlife and plants, roses, and Perennials

Anyone--How do you "refresh" a page?????

I started looking through the contest entries--not to judge--just to see.
Geez! There are SO many!
Right now i am still busy with the craziness of Christmas at HD. and spiffing up my house for visitors. I seldom "spiff up" anythining--BUT....

Next week--I will be busy baking (Saturday) our yummy "Pirags" so everyone
can be happy around the Holidays. This is an all-day labor-of-love. A MUST!

When is the deadline for the voting? I know...I know...it is written somewhere...

Here is a pile of my "Pirags" from some years ago. One batch of dough usually makes
close to 250. Each one is hand-filled. Dough is hand-made. Filling, of minutely diced bacon and ham and onions then it is put in each round of dough. Then the edges are pinched shut around it
Then--they are baked in the oven bu cookie-sheet-full. --You could die from the aroma
floating everywhere.....YUMMMMM...
