That link Sue posted to Annie's is very tempting...what a Salvia assortment!!

She does have a great selection, not just of salvias, but all kinds of fun plants! All her descriptions make you want to try everything. They post those descriptions and photos in large signs over the flats of little 4" plants so despite most of them not being in bloom, you can stop and read each one and get so tempted. It's a 2 hr walk through for me each time in the 2 acre property, minimum, despite having read everything online and coming with a list! If I bring my camera, it's even longer! Her nursery is about an hours drive from me so I go several times a year.

Sigh...now I want to go again!

My favorite salvia has always been S. patens. It's not hardy here so I grow it from seed every year, with the exception of one plant. I don't know if it's genetics or location, but one plant has repeatedly survived -20 F for about 10 years now.



Salvia transylvanica is very hardy here:





S. horminum is a nice reseeding annual where the leaves are more interesting than the flowers.



The only Agastache I really have is the basic anise hyssop that reseeds a bit too well.

Salvia patens roots from cuttings easily enough. I've just never bothered to root that one yet.

I've never been to it, but found them through internet searches on google of Agastaches and Salvias. Wished I live closer to them, Plant Delights and Annies!

Yes, you are so right, Big Bloomers is a great place!

Everytime we go, I say "Ah, now THIS is what I like!", and DBH quakes in his boots.

It is a one and a half hour drive. They have just about everything you could want.

Last time we were there, I was admiring their assortment of Agaves and succulents and fabulous Salvias.

Their pots and birdbaths are amazing, as well.

I usually go with a list, otherwise you can easily get very distracted.

Early Spring we will visit again. Their prices are really good, too, encouraging one even more!!
