Sondra that is a beautiful colony of 'Coral Reef'. It will be interesting to see how it does for you with a little more sun. You should see quite a bit of color come on.

Coral Reef is great looking and one I don't have.
Ran out this morning and took photo of all my creeping type sedums. The first photo show a piece of the sarmentosum next to a piece of the one I call Golden Teardrops. After looking on DG plantfiles, I think it may be sedum lineare. There is one called Golden Teardrop. Wish the variegated form was hardy here. The second photo shows what happens when you toss a small piece of it on the ground. It grows most everywhere and I use it instead of mulch.

I have way too much sedum Kamtschaticum. I use it to keep clamatis roots cool and along the edge of my neighbor's driveway where it gets driven on and doesn't care..

These are left to right ,what I call sedum acre, blue spruce and Angelina. Close up is sedum acre?

I have plenty of all these to trade for other sedums or semps. Pieces of Oracle will be small but I have plenty of the rest. I can fill a small rate priority box with small lpieces of each or even a medium box if you want some that I have a lot of. If you don't have trades, postage is fine too. Tmailme what you are interested in.

I'm loving this forum. The photos are great. I find it very exciting to see what others are doing and grateful for the depth of knowledge. Here things are slowly coming together. The three blue elves arrives today, and each in fine shape. Yippee. Once they recover from the trip, I'll get them in the ground. Meanwhile, I'm liking watching and waiting what the spring brings. Here's a little happy blended family just coming to life. I'm hoping they all continue to play nice. Smiling

Sean welcome. We have so much fun learning from each other. Each of us brings something to the mix. That is what makes it so wonderful.
The bonus is seeing each others photos, like your above photo. Love it.

I am curious. @stilldew said that it can be used in lieu of mulch. How does it take raking? I have such a serious leaf drop in the area where I would plant it. It would required raking to clean it up properly.

Thanks

Marilyn if you had a leaf blower that would be ideal, raking very lightly would probably be fine, but I've noticed that these tend to detach easily and raking may make one large mess Thumbs down But these would do fine in shade, I have some planted in bright shade that doesn't get sun in the summer when the trees have leaves. They don't have the dramatic colors that the ones in the sun have but they are healthy Thumbs up I tip my hat to you.

My favorite new gardening tool is my battery powered leaf blower. It is light weight and does a fantastic job of blowing things out out the semp beds, even the beds and walkways that have sedum.

Nice to have you join us @Whitebeard! I love watching all the sedum wake up in Spring!

We've been using a leaf blower to clean in out semp beds for years. Works like a charm.

Thanks for the welcomes. I may prove to be more regular here (if you were to flip back to page 3 of this chat line, you'll see that I have popped in before. The echoes of the greetings does a heart good).

Marilyn, I share your leaf situation. I get inundated by them. The leaf blower is a great idea. I've never been able to rake lightly enough over sedums; they come up in a heartbeat. Lynn, a smaller battery-operated one sounds perfect. Great tip.

Happy growing to all. (And happy Passover to those who are celebrating.)

Sean, I remember your post back in Feb. about S. seiboldii. Wasn't some kind of weird color showing in an ad?
Don't stay away, we love to see you post.

Good recall, Lynn. That was me. And it was the subsequent discussion that led me to blue elf. Once things quiet down around here (I'm thinking Monday), I will post some pics and some questions for you folks. I have some love growing red-tinted sedum growth (I may one day remember their name) that are looking leggy, and not sure if they are best left alone or buried. But that to come. As for now, thanks for the inclusion.

Not sure how to treat these tricolor sedums. They look leggy to me (and I'm thinking to you), but it is still early in this zone. We're just on the edge of the frost-free temps.

Should I bury them some? Cut and replant? Hit them with a little fertilizer and wait... or just sit back? Thanks for the input.

I'd say wait, for me this is one thing I don't like about many of the sedum, they look poorly after the winter, even though I know they fill back in, there is a little bit of time that they don't look so great! Whistling

Sean, my tri-colored sedum had those long stems too and I pulled off some of them. Most had some leaves opened on the tips, so I just pinched them off and dropped them on the ground. Expect them to root. I will get a pic in the morning.

When they start coming out of dormancy and showing signs of actively growing, I prune all the long part back. And as Susan said you can use the cuttings to start new plants.
I'll try to get a photo of mine that shows what it looks like after pruning it and it regrows. All of the spurium types respond well to this treatment.

Here you go Sean, this is my Sedum 'Tri-Color'. It looked like yours when I pruned it back. Now it is all filled in. There is new colonies growing from the cuttings.
