What have you found to do ? Clean the basement? Cook? Just catch up on books or video? Some of each, plus - Here is a project I started last year. Actually in 2014.

Very cool, Sally! I'm not very crafty and wouldn't even know where to begin with a project like that. What I should be doing this weekend is organizing and uploading garden pictures.

DH and I spent the day doing some last-minute storm prep and catching up on TV shows. We're enjoying the new Showtime series Billions. Really great acting by Damien Lewis and Paul Giamatti. We also caught up on the new USA series Colony.

But that much TV in one day tends to fry my brain. Blinking

Those are beautiful, Sally!
DD has been rewatching some old favorite shows on Hula--SSG, I see her brain frying as we sit here!! Big Grin
I've been doing various favorite games on my laptop. I know--so productive! Hilarious! Whistling

How cool, Sally. Isn't that Grandmother's Flower Garden? Is that the quilt you need more fabric for?

No major plans here, but we're well stocked with books. David got a lot of winter sowing put out over the last couple of days.

That'll be a beautiful quilt, Sally.

I've shoveled a few times (including paths in the backyard so I can refill bird feeders and bird baths). I'm glad I did that because I realized I hadn't covered the electrical outlets for the pond or the electrical cords for the bird baths.

If I run out of things I want to do, I can always paint a room or fill storage bins that have been sitting in the basement for a year. Two are now outside to cover bird seed trays, so I've made the job a little easier Smiling

I tried a new roast chicken recipe that turned out really bland and made a huge mess. Thumbs down

Lisa, I haven't heard of that series before. I'm a big fan of BBC series.

Oh, what a disappointment, ssg.

Thanks- I actually have plenty of fabric, I forgot I hadn't gotten into a bag from a friend. Now I have enough for about three Grandmothers Flower Gardens (if I ever miraculously finish ANY). Catbird will probably make a whole quilt this weekend, she's amazing.

Mark weeded old paperwork from our files, yay!

We haven't seen any of those shows. We're catching up on Downton Abbey, and parodies of it on Youtube

One thing that I *can't* do in the snow is go to the gym. I started going regularly in the fall and now it's become a habit. When I couldn't go for a week after I hurt my foot, I felt like a blob.

It's so strange how habits form. These day, not exercising really affects my sleep, so I'm up at 5 am again.

I'm teaching myself the ukelele, so I'll be practicing today. And cleaning up that mess in the kitchen! Ever have baked-on honey-orange sauce? Thumbs down

Going to a class 2-3 times a week did seem to help me sleep better.
How is your foot doing?

Baked honey orange sauce sounds awful to clean up.

Ukelele how fun!! One of the other library staff who leads these early childhood classes uses one SO my pals all teased me when I started, I should get one. There are some cheap ones out there, where did you get it? I could revive my electronic keyboard. I never played with any skill, just by ear.
Plant it and they will come.

Tiptoe through the tulips... Wondering if that was the only pop song to feature a ukulele LOL.

I think I'll spend a lot of time working on my plant list inventory. First will focus on 2015 records making sure all is in my ATP Plant List and also in a home grown Access DB that I'm using to keep track. Figured I work chronologically backwards since the easiest to tackle is the most current. Have stacks and stacks of hand written notes and receipts from the earliest years before I even attempted keeping track on the computer so I that will be the hardest. I can't believe how tedious I can get about record keeping.

Sally, I got my ukelele at an instrument store in VA because I wanted to try them out in person first. They're available for under 50 bucks on Amazon! I had many years of (forced) piano lessons so the uke has been pretty easy to pick up, but the problem is that my fingers are so weak due to my joint condition. Thumbs down I can finger all these chords but they sound awful because I don't have the finger strength to hold down the strings all the way. I'm hoping I can build up the strength gradually without exacerbating any joint pain.

There are a few pop songs with the ukelele, with Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" being my favorite because it's my wedding song! https://www.youtube.com/watch?... I can play it now -- very poorly. Hilarious!

My foot's all better, thank you! It's so interesting how quickly the muscle injury healed compared to the broken bone a few years back.

Additional plans for today: make kale chips (I'm obviously not efficient with this because it takes me hours); start ornamental sweet potatoes by following @HollyAnnS's directions; shovel out my elderly neighbor

No worries, Catmint- I am quite proficient at Colored Lines. hahahaha

But also need to do my daily ten minutes of Duolingo French. And slightly related- I am semi obsessed with learning the words to Carmen's Habanera
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

It's such a beautiful tune and French is a lovely language. But I am lacking certain 'ahem' attributes that this singer has.... and, she looks kind of scary at times. Green Grin!

Maybe this thread should have been- the weirdest thing you're doing while stuck in the blizzard.

Hm, I should really start Duolingo Spanish...

Working on my Ornaments, This one is finished and the next one about 1/2 way done. It would go better if I could find my thimble. We topped off the bird feeders yesterday, so they are keeping me entertained. Might start working on my glass plate flowers.

um. no.
I have to sing with preschoolers every week. I've been watching Youtube vids to try and get louder and not strain and crack after 20 mins of singing and talking. I'd really like to get training, that'd be cool. Our neighbor is about 28 and is a music Masters degree and did opera. Sometimes we hear her pratice, or maybe she's tutoring, but this otherwordly sound comes from two doors away. It is truly amazing.

That is such a pretty ornament, Holly! That cardinal sure looks plump and happy.

Haha--great Carmen, Sally--I can just see you! Bet the kiddos at the library will love it. Whistling Duolingo sounds pretty cool.
