Please keep us updated if they bloom.

Surely that's months away from now! Though of course I agree that if they bloomed they could be identified with absolute certainty.

Since we're already here, the more pressing question is - should they be left for the winter in their pot outside on the windowsill? Said windowsill is only about 1.5 foot above ground (it's a storage room window) so it poses no danger to anyone if it falls - but what would the putative rollers prefer?

Agree outside is best, although they will be more susceptible to freezing being in a pot, so covering when temps are near freezing will help them
Thumbs up

Here are a couple more roller photos showing what they are doing in the fall.

This one is actually a cross between a S. globeriferum and a heuffelii.

Lynn, 'Feuerrad' is not gonna drop rollers off... is it? Yours kinda looks like it has. But like mine, it also looks like it's dividing like crazy.

When the cold and rain came, my 'Feuerrad' looks like it packed up for Winter. In just a day or two. The longer leaves died back, the red tips retreated, and the rosettes bunched inwards and tightened up. Like it thinks some brutally cold weather is coming.

What's the maintenance strategy on this guy? Crack him in half every year?

Tim, 'Feuerrad' does not drop rollers. Occasionally it has some that detach easily and can be planted elsewhere. When I moved this colony and broke it up, sold some and replanted the rest.
I can see by your above photo that your 'Feuerrad' is also multiplying like crazy. Just have to love this fun plant. Thumbs up

Tim I like having them grow solidly in an area, especially the rollers or part rollers, so yes if it were me I'd cut It... Although having a cute clump is nice to, so you have to decide, this plant grows really well in my experience
I tip my hat to you.

Would anyone hazard a guess if Jovibarba hirta f/Smeryouka is the same as the cultiver pictured below?
If so, which classification is correct?
Or are they separate cultivars?
Or are both classifications considered correct? Confused

SMG lists it as the former (hirta). http://www.smgsucculents.com/j...

Tim for your reference I'm pretty sure the 'hirta' changed to globiferum for all of these plants...so much harder to say so many folks just keep it the way it was (hirta)
