Kathy Hurray! isn't it a nice and unusual foliage color? Your garden looks Thumbs up I have already plenty of purple, which is hard to see in shade.
Nice lime green is another coleus color I'd get.
Plant it and they will come.

I often put a bright lime green potato vine into those containers with coleus to brighten them up, and eventually it will trail all around the base of the planter and any containers near it, they can get very long. I like the way that looks, and the birds especially love those extra hiding places.

The hostas that I plunged into water garden containers (keeping crowns above water like I do with other pond marginals) are doing really well. I wonder if Coleus would grow that way? Cuttings seem happy for a very long time in a glass of water, so maybe?

I bought 2 ornamental purslane plants for $2 each, & 3 little Mandevilla vines for $4 each yesterday. The vines were a better bargain but I lost my pink purslane a few yrs ago and since there is a reasonable shot at keeping it alive over winter, that makes it worth a try. Both pots have a lot of fresh new growth, should get some blooms still this year.

I meet a lady in line at Kroger's who rescues clearance Orchids from there. She said other people find them and bring them to her as well. Her house is covered in orchids.

My weekend clearance rescues 75% off so this is $3.25. I love purslane and I have grown them on and off for years. I like the hanging pots and these I find easy to propagate by stem cuttings and by collecting seeds.

Welcome! BrambleOn!

Phalaenopsis, those common grocery store orchids, are easy once you undertsand them (IMHO). I don't think I've ever paid full price for one or gotten one gifted in full bloom as a purchase. I did inherit a couple in full bloom last year, have bought rescues, have been given rescues. No wait, I did pay $5 I think, for one at Lotte years ago, it was a less common color. I think I have 6 pots now.

Gigi, what a great buy, I did not go last week as threatened but maybe this week..
Plant it and they will come.

Yes rescue ones that are somewhat healthy but only done blooming. Sometimes the Phals will rebloom.

Thank You! I think they are great deals too. Although I still admittedly do emotional rescues for 75% off for less than a $1, I killed mine so see if I can revive this with my Agrothrive Whistling

I have been desperately looking for some cheap geranium plants, any that don't have pink flowers will do fine but they are either very expensive or tiny with pink flowers... I have been tempted to get a sneaky cutting or two from the park but I can not pluck up the courage to do so, they have nice red ones.

I want to move the spider plant off my bedroom window seal because its growing too big and I need to maximize the light coming into the bedroom but with a huge spider plant covering up a quarter of the window I'm losing valuable light. This would be the 5th spider plant I've moved from the window, I normally replace it with a baby spider plant taken from the mother plant but each one grows huge very fast which isn't a bad thing... that tells me there is very good lighting at that window so I'm going to re-locate the big spider plant into a hanging basket. The spider plant could probably do with re-potting as well. The hanging basket will be about 2 foot from the sunny window and I'm going to put a geranium in its place when I can find some.

That's so funny! I almost always see only red, but want pink. If you want something so specific, maybe just buy @ regular price for a robust one. Often easier said than done with everything so expensive lately.

Geraniums had always been cheap plants as far as I can remember and they are plentiful and very easy to propagate but these days everything is becoming expensive. I found some geraniums discounted at a garden center so I bought 3 of them I got a variegated geranium and red plus a white flowering geraniums I also bought some geranium seeds on ebay.

The geraniums I bought had been left in the rain sitting in water trays so two have a bit of root rot and there are fungus gnats so I'm hoping the soil will dry and the plants wont die. The 3rd geranium appears to be fine. They make great flowering indoor plants as long as they are in a bright spot, my bedroom window is like a mini greenhouse.

Here is one of the geraniums.

Good luck! I either have no grasp of geranium care, or have simply tortured myself with an inherently ill specimen that wont die but wont thrive.

I would pick of all the dead bits, the flowers can take a lot of energy away from a plant so I'd remove those while the plant is recovering and maybe mix some miracle gro or something into the next watering.

got it- and, how much sun and heat do you think they like?
I've kept it in a clay pot before but I think that got too hot and dry. It gets hot here in summer and sun can be strong.
Plant it and they will come.

Sally, every one I bought in the past few years had a Jiffy net around the roots. The roots were not getting through that. I have about a dozen of them by now and most are in heavy shade.

Love the cheery companionship of geraniums indoors during winter. They reside on a tabletop in western sun exposure, along with my Sansevieria collection.

Kathy, thank you for posting this. Maybe that is the issue on my geraniums. Maybe they need to be in part shade during our hot summer months.

Kathy, seeing your colorful geraniums has made me think I should be growing some as well. I have seeds but never got around to planting them. They need to be started early and by the time I thought of it it was already May so I didn't bother.

I really love those Martha Washington geraniums but we don't see those around anymore. Sighing!
