Probably Kopper Kettle (purchased as Lollipop from MB) After I get over my frustration with the mislabel, I am starting to love this flower even more than the Lollipop that I originally had wanted. As it fades, it has a very beautiful orange copper tone to it that I find unusual and unique.

Oscar, Cora Louise. Where did you get it from? I see a label on the pot, but picture is not clear enough.

We can do some exchange in a year or two when you are ready to divide - I always wanted Singing in the Rain. And do not have Garcia. Not sure if you have Smith Family Yellow and Yankee Doodle Dandy. I also shop at Humber's - last time it was foxtail lily and bowman's root.

A lot of Itoh peonies here. Smiling Just wondering, do you guys find Itoh peonies have more flowers than regular peony trees? What about the period of blooming?

Congrats on catching the peony bug. I got bitten about 5 years ago. It can be intoxicating. Here in Zone 7, generally, the tree peonies bloom first, followed by the itohs and herbaceous. But each type has early, mid, and late bloomers so there can be quite a bit of overlap. I have found my itohs to be easier to care for, grow, and are show stoppers because there is no drooping of the blooms. The tree peony blooms are beautiful but the plant can be more fickle, take longer to bloom and develop. The itohs behave much more like herbaceous peonies. I don't look at them in comparison. Each has their own merits. Just some of my thoughts and experiences.

I think Itohs get to the point where they have large numbers of blooms faster in the garden than tree peonies. Both can be fairly expensive but if you're looking at about the same priced plant in a nursery the Itoh for sale will have more blooms.

Hi Aileen! Love your name! Gray is right that each type of peony has its own merits. Regarding itohs, just want to say that they grow fast and and wide. You need lot of space to show/display them well. They also do not like root competition from trees or shade. The number of blooms will diminish if they are planted in such locations. Most itohs have very beautiful foliage and look nice even without blooms. You should try to grow a few just for the diversity of blooms and foliage.

Thanks, Gray, Liz & Karen. Planning to plant some peonies in my front yard. Couldn't make decision to choose Itoh or tree peonies. Now I think I'll plant one tree peony and one Itoh to begin with. Smiling

One of each is a great choice. There are also tree peony choices that, once settled in, have an abundant amount of blooms. I prefer the ones that carry the flowers on top. There are ones with beautiful flowers, but the flowers can either be somewhat buried in the plant or nod downward. Rockii varieties are a great option or some suffruticosa or advanced lutea types with upward flower carriage.

Welcome Aileen.

I am planning on getting my first itoh this year as one of my birthday gifts. I am not sure yet which one. It will depend on what is in stock. I will surely let you all know what it is when I get it nodding
