Not too common to me, I think that flower is lovely.

My Bletillas are blooming also but I had transplanted them late last year and the flowers are pretty small this year.

Alice I got my bletillas last December. I wasn't expecting them to bloom since they were repotted. Even the small shoots have buds on them. Thumbs up

Nice Phal., Cameron.

Thank you, Alice. There are "Broadway" pictures and then "Off-Broadway" pictures. Most of mine fall into the second category. Whistling

We really don't care, Ken. A pretty flower is a pretty flower. My 'opal' Spath keeps right on truckin' too. It's a big one with 2ft. leaves and the flower stems are getting towards 30in. tall. Color is a lot more yellow since the weather warmed up.

Another of the 'out of season' Maxillaria which I'm enjoying very much. One flower perfumes a big space!

I am beginning to like the Spath. This one in bloom (I only have three of this variety) has been in the solarium since November, so it was nice to see that they truly can bloom indoors. Some of my Spath. 'Snow Angel' plants are growing inflo., and when they bloom that will be the first time.

Ursula I think my bletilla bloom is stuck? It's still in the same position as yesterday.

My Bletilla is stuck too. Its only 1/2 inch tall and has been that way for a week now.

It was cool and cloudy today so maybe that's why the flower hasn't grown much?

Well, that is what is wrong with mine also and I thought it was because of my late in the season transplanting.

Cameron, the Bletilla bloom in your picture is fully open. More buds will open sequentially along the stem, is that what you are asking?

Oh I thought because it was still close to the flower stem, it wasn't fully developed?

Cameron, have look if you like, these are some of my Bletilla striata pictures from May 2015. Perhaps that helps.

Bletilla striata will bloom no matter where they are. I took a whole trunk load (that my kind Hubby dug up for me in California) to my orchid society meeting last month. They were pretty trashed - Hubby might have the right genes (Japanese) but obviously he would have been better at laundry then gardening. He stacked them! - the new shoots were toast. But, a month later, the orchid society meeting was abuzz. All are blooming! Yeh!

Mine in the garden in Reno are still 1/2 inch tall. Sad I will remain patient...

I wanted to share a nice picture of a Bletilla from last year. Went to find it and discovered Windows 10 (installed yesterday) has my photos captive somewhere. Acckkkkk

@Ursula That definitely helps. I can't wait until more flowers open on mine. I have them on my front porch so it's a nice greeting when I come home. Smiling

@dyzzypyxxy Thanks Elaine. The rescue phal was in the long fiber sphagnum moss with lots of rotting roots. I immediately moved it to orchid bark and gave it Epsom salts and seaweed extract and its recovered nicely.

@Daisyl Daisy that's amazing they all bloomed after the new shoots were damaged.

@ardesia Alice I switched to Windows 10 in January but surprisingly it only changed a few things and all of my photos were still there. Hilarious!
