Sorry you lost a few. Thumbs down

I brought mine in to prevent frost, but I have started the process of acclimating my already-potted seedlings to outside.

D&D I have been at it long enough to know, part of it all (gardening) is finding out how hardy some plants are . Does not always go in our favor ,
i have severall started , Roma , Broad Ripple Current , A black hawk cherry is blooming in the garden outdoors .
Several lettuce are nearing harvest size ..
Borage does not like the weather so far , it is sitting and not growing , Basil are bginning
Brussel sprouts , beets , red Kale growing , eventually munchies !!! Smiling

Cool! I'll be really curious to see how palatable you find it. They say it's much better while young and tender, but you can chop the old leaves off, feed them to livestock, and it will re-grow.

Oh, that looks great! Thanks for showing it!

I wish I had started some seeds, but right now my weeds have a thriving double canopy going, and they seem to be trying for "triple-canopy".

Allegedly, it's also a good variety for a fall crop, and for over-wintering. Allegedly: "if mulched, can overwinter in sub-zero temperatures".

Interesting Rick , Because they made the Basil and Burdock flavor nuetral , I am going to try a few with Chicory , onion , and maybe a dandelion leaf or two , to see if they nuetralize the sharp bitter flavor of those ,
Wonder what they were cooking with them ?

Nice spinach bx ,, another I have trouble growing .

Largest Annual and Largest poppy plants I have had in two decades , I believe these came from here (this trade) with the Lupine .

Wow. I cannot believe it's been this long since I've been able to come in here. And the progress everyone is making! I love it.

Dnd - I would think the process of making mustard is way too tedious for mustard greens. It would really be better spent saving seed for canning and cooking processes and boiling the mustard greens.

Jimard - Lol, you make me laugh. "Wonder what they are cooking with them?" Rick hit the nail on the head. We use tons of hamhock, bacon or bacon grease. Anything pork related. It's really the only way to eat them.

I'm tickled pink your lyreleaf popped up! Sadly, mine did not. Perhaps you'll get plenty of seed this year. ;) However, I would not necessarily put it down to seed. It seems a great deal of what I have sown from swaps did not germinate. I refuse to believe that this many veteran gardeners do not know how to save seed, including myself. I've had since March to keep up with germination for alot of what I have gotten. Things are a bit odd this year. Most did not germinate, even if it was a commercial seed. I think it's really been weather or moon related. What did germinate, came to a standstill.

Sadly, I did lose one of my purple ruffles basils to a terrible rain. I'm thinking now on if I want to move the one left or if I may want to plant an opal basil on the other end for a bit of purple drama.

On a better note... I have 4 Black Prince Snaps up and doing beautifully. I love them already. I have them planted in a whiskey barrel with Blue Monday salvia and double deep salmon rose profusion zinnias. I will end up paring the barrel down, but it's really going to be pretty once it all starts blooming. I really want to say the Black Prince snaps are doing even better than my Aroma Red Spice snaps. Those are a hybrid of the Black Princes. I tell myself they are black princes with fragrance, lol.

Thumb of 2016-05-11/KarenHolt/1d7f7e

bx - I did get the pink but sadly, they did not germinate. They are still sitting in a cup as I'm just a died in the wool, can't give up kind of person. I did replace them with some Rosylvan Forget Me Nots from swallowtail. I just finished planting those seedlings yesterday. I also ended up doing the Bluesylvan ones as well. I don't think blue popping up in a pink is such a bad idea.

On other notes for you - I do have snaps coming up. I have 5 frosted sunsets that I have put into a small planter. The twinny apple blossoms came up but then died in a rain storm.

I had 4 of your alyssum come up and I've gotten 2 of the phlox tapestry to survive. All of that I planted in a corner on my south bed with my yellow roses that made it this year. It was not the wonderland copper or the basket of gold alyssum that survived. I was sad for that so I did end up getting the wonderland deep purple and deep rose alyssum to make up for it.

LittleCheryl - I'm so so sorry about your greenhouse! All that hardwork. Bless your heart. You are indeed lucky your hubby is going to replace it with plants for you. All is not lost! Group hug

On a better note... I have carrots! That is one of the things that did absolutely fabulous when it came to ws'ing. The other day my hubby went and plucked one. Then he was going to throw it down because it was not ready. I nearly snapped his head off, lol. Needless to say, I replanted and shoo'd him out of my garden, lol.

This is partly for DnD as well. I get mixed up on alot of who gave me what so if you ya'll see it here, I mean to include you as well. I have radishes that we are already eating and replanting. Spring came a month early for us so we are loading up already on veggies. Rick, I did not plant greens or lettuce. I will have to do that this fall. I knew not to do it for some reason and we have just really been too warm. Even my broccoli couldn't take it. So we'll continue on for the fall.

Thumb of 2016-05-11/KarenHolt/bd4d00

Dnd - my cilantro is finally sprouting! I did my second sowing last week. My salsa thanks you to no end, lol. Oh and let's not forget about that guacamole either. It is made with abundance here during the summer.

As for the rest of my gardens... The tomatoes already have blooms as well as the cukes. The greenbeans and everything else is coming on. We will start canning a month earlier this year. Yay! I have bell peppers and mild peppers and hot peppers blooming. They have already started pulling them. Some are just deepest black you can imagine already. The only garden doing really really well is my vegetable garden.

Rachale and I managed to build 9 or 10 of the flower beds I wanted. We hauled tons of rock and have one more load to do for the last rose bed. I have managed to plant out quite a bit and get most, not all, mulched. I'm still waiting on things to germinate and grow to finish it off. I have bought some plants and some seeds for the garden this year. I had gotten some things to grow from ws'ing and then Chuck decided to work with weed killer and my grandson around it. Uggh. 3 Days later, dead. All of it. Luckily, I have more seed, lol. For the first time since March, I am finally caught up with planting, sowing and weeding. It feels a bit odd as I have been working 12 hour days since then to get this done.

Well this was sort of a short update. I guess I'm just about done. I walk around my yard and see things I haven't yet spoken about here and remember each of you fondly. It's been a really wonderful time playing with these seeds whether they came out or not.

Wow! I'm not adventurous in the kitchen. Thanks for the photo of baby romaine, I would not have expected it to look like that.

Karen, thanks for the update. It sounds like you have LOTS to eat, without lettuce or greens. I haven't planted anything myself.

The park management just sent me a letter to weed and mow, or they will hire someone and bill me. I guess I'm busy this weekend whether I want to be or not!

Karen if you have any of the forget-me-not seed left you could try scattering them outside now. I haven't tried to grow them in containers or anything. Just throw the seed where I want it. The seeds sprout in early summer and survive our winters. That may be why they didn't sprout for you. If you kept the container keep checking it because if it has warmed up for you they might sprout now. I should be able to send you fresh seed pretty soon if you want some!

Glad you got some other things to grow! My wintersowing did pretty well this year but keeping the seedlings alive has been tough. I'm surprised the alyssum didn't sprout. It's another one I just toss the seed where I want in the summer.

Maybe my times for planting are all off because you live in such a different climate. We still have mostly temps in the 50s & 60s. I just put my tomatoes outside to harden off this weekend. I can't believe you already have peppers! I'm just harvesting winter lettuce and spinach!

Karen as for trade seeds , as always ,, if I get any new , of any traded that do not grow , I will send them if their still wanted ,, Most of my seeds usually grow , I know the salvia (red) and some of my dill seed , seem to have dried out ,
some keep for a long time for me , others , well , not ,,
I do have a little sprout of something in the Lady in Red starter pot , only the number of seeds in there meant ,, oh goodness ,
