wow, those are great! Such creative minds to come up with that - just can't imagine how to go about getting that many discarded shovels, I don't think I've ever tossed a shovel out.

Maybe you would have to put an ad on Craigslist in a very populated area? Or haunt a greenbox every single day?

I have picked up a lot of shovels without handles over the last few years. I have never had a project in mind for them. I just knew I liked them and that they were cheap - never more than a buck for one - and that I would use them someday. I wonder if I could make a shovel pine cone. It looks challenging. Thanks for the idea Rosie.

My pleasure. I sort of wonder if the handles contribute to the formation or stability of the art piece

I love all the idea's here!!! Everyone is so creative. Yesterday I had to have my dishwasher replaced and when the man came to do it of course he had to remove the broken one and was going to haul it off. Once he got it out and before he loaded it onto his truck I told him I wanted the silverware basket and both of the racks. That man looked at me like I was crazy Rolling on the floor laughing but the racks I can turn upside down to protect seeds from these darn fuzzy tailed trèe rats (squirrels) and the basket will be handy for any number of things. But the look on his face was priceless! Hahahaha
